Taking place as part of tonight’s loaded MLB slate, the San Francisco Giants will be taking on the Baltimore Orioles. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET.

This marks the second matchup of the series, with the Giants picking up a 6-3 victory yesterday. Logan Webb and Chris Bassitt are scheduled to take the mound for their respective sides.

Looking at the odds, the Giants enter as -118 favorites to win outright and hold +141 odds on the -1.5 run line on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Orioles hold -102 odds of winning outright, with the run line set at 7.5.

Giants at Orioles prediction, preview

The San Francisco Giants hold a 6-8 record to start the season and are tied with the Rockies for last place in the NL West. They picked up the win in the series opener yesterday and hold a three-game winning streak overall. On the season, they are 5-9 to the run line, and the game total is 6-5-3 to the over/under.

Logan Webb will take the ball for the Giants today and make his fourth start of the season. He holds a 1-1 record so far this year with a 5.00 ERA, 19 hits allowed, 10 runs given up, and 15 strikeouts across his first 18.0 innings pitched. Webb has faced off against the expected Orioles lineup in 54 at-bats thus far in his career. He has allowed just 10 total hits and limited his opponents to slash lines of .185/.214/.315 in these opportunities, with two home runs conceded.

San Francisco has not hit the ball particularly well at the plate this season. The team is posting collective slash lines of .240/.289/.357 with just a .647 OPS. Matt Chapman leads the team with 17 hits and is tied with Jung Hoo Lee for a team-high seven RBIs. Rafael Devers and Willy Adames are tied with a team-high two home runs, while Adames leads the National League with eight doubles. Heliot Ramos, Luis Arraez, and Harrison Bader also play key roles.

The Baltimore Orioles enter with a 6-7 record through their first 13 games, two games back of the top spot in the AL East. The 6-3 loss in the series opener snapped a three-game winning streak as they swept the White Sox in the previous series. On the season, Baltimore is 4-9 to the run line, and the game total is 7-6 to the over/under.

Chris Bassitt will be making his third start in his age-37 season. The former All-Star struggled in both starts thus far, allowing 10 total earned runs in just 6.1 innings pitched to this point. Bassitt currently holds a 14.21 ERA with just three strikeouts and an MLB-high three hit batters thus far. He has faced off with the expected Giants lineup 73 times in his career and allowed 22 hits in these opportunities. San Francisco’s hitters are slashing .301/.338/.479 with three home runs and 17 strikeouts tallied against him.

Baltimore is slashing .241/.328/.368 with a .696 OPS so far this season. Taylor Ward leads the team with 19 hits, along with an MLB-leading 10 doubles and eight total RBIs. Gunner Henderson leads the league with five home runs along with a team-high 11 RBIs, while Adley Rutschman adds 10 hits and six doubles of his own. Pete Alonso, Colton Cowser, and Tyler O’Neil also play key roles for the team.

Giants at Orioles pick, best bet

Neither of these teams has gotten off to their desired start to the season. Chris Bassitt has failed to look like the best version of himself since joining his new team, and this is not a lineup he has fared well against in the past. The former All-Star will settle in as the season progresses, but his confidence has to be in the gutter right now after being chased from his previous start after giving up six runs in just two innings.

Logan Webb has not pitched to the peak of his abilities yet this year either, but has gotten better with each start and has done a better job giving his team a chance to win. He has also fared much better in past matchups with Baltimore, so expect there to be a strong chance of this being his best start of the season.

Both bullpens have produced at relatively similar rates this year, although Baltimore has found itself in more save situations and closer overall games. The Orioles’ relief unit is producing a 3.73 ERA and 1.26 WHIP, with six home runs allowed and six saves tallied. The Giants’ bullpen offers a 4.40 ERA and 1.38 WHIP, with seven home runs allowed and two saves tallied.

Both offenses have shown some flashes but have largely been inconsistent. I am backing Webb to have the advantage in the pitching matchup and for this to be the difference in today’s game. Expect the star pitcher to put San Francisco in a position to win and for the offense to do enough. Rafael Devers has shown some flashes of heating up, while Matt Chapman and Willy Adames have been impressive. The Orioles are just 3-4 at home this season, while the Giants are 3-1 when playing on the road. Count on Webb delivering by doing his job on the mound, and for the Giants to scrounge up enough offensive production to add another victory tonight.

Best bet: Giants Moneyline (-118)
