Freddy Peralta has endured some growing pains in the Big Apple, posting a 4.80 ERA (2.69 xERA) and 1.13 WHIP across his first three starts (15 innings) with the Mets. Even so, it’s clear that the former Brewers ace packed his signature swing-and-miss stuff.
The 29-year-old righty owns a 29.7% strikeout rate (11.4 K/9) this season, his highest mark since 2023. He has also recorded at least seven strikeouts in two of his first three outings.
Peralta will look to deliver again on Sunday as he attempts to help New York avoid a sweep against the Athletics. While the A’s lineup is brimming with potential, it has also struck out at the third-highest rate in MLB (27.5%).
Sandy Alcantara Over 18.5 Outs (+103)
Sandy Alcantara is untouchable. Again.
After a lost 2024 and a disappointing 2025, the star right-hander appears to have recaptured his NL Cy Young form. Through his first three starts, Alcantara, 30, boasts a 0.74 ERA (1.35 xERA) and 0.58 WHIP across 24.1 innings of work. He pitched into the seventh inning in each outing, highlighted by a complete-game shutout against the White Sox on April 1.
The 6-foot-5 phenom looks poised to record at least 18.5 outs (6.1 innings) in a marquee matchup with Tarik Skubal. He’ll face a largely pedestrian Detroit lineup that hovers around league average in wRC+ but is strapped for power — ranking in MLB’s bottom ten in both slugging percentage (23rd) and home runs (28th). It’s shaping up to be a long afternoon for Tigers hitters against a pitcher in full control of his dynamite arsenal.
Kyle Schwarber 3+ Hits + Runs + RBIs (+145)
Typically, a .188 hitter doesn’t carry an .850 OPS. But that’s the thing about Kyle Schwarber: one swing can change everything.
Philadelphia’s prized lefty slugger is at it again, with four of his nine hits this season leaving the yard. The three-time All-Star has also matched teammate Bryce Harper for the team lead with nine RBIs, as the star duo powered back-to-back homers in Saturday’s 4–3 win over Arizona.
Expect the reigning National League home run king to deliver once again during Sunday’s rubber match against the Diamondbacks in Philly. Schwarber’s eyes should light up as he faces former Diamondbacks ace Zac Gallen, against whom he’s 5-for-17 (.294) with three homers, six RBIs, and a 1.282 OPS in his career.
