Today’s slate features a smaller group of matchups, highlighted by Rhett Lowder continuing his strong start against Miami and Eduardo Rodriguez looking to extend his scoreless run as he faces the Mets.

Top Pitching Matchups for April 9, 2026

  • Rhett Lowder has been excellent to start the year and gets the Marlins in the roomy LoanDepot Park
  • Eduardo Rodriguez looks to keep his shutout streak alive, as he’s yet to allow a run through 12 innings against the Braves and Dodgers.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Miami Marlins Probable Pitchers

  • Cincinnati Reds: Rhett Lowder
  • Miami Marlins: Max Meyer
  • Time: 12:10 PM ET

Lowder hasn’t pitched much at the major league level, but when he has, he’s been great. Across 41.2 innings he has a 1.30 ERA with a xERA of 3.86 and a 3.29 FIP. He’ll be opposed by Meyer, who continues to struggle. Through two starts and 9.2 innings he has a 4.66 ERA with a xERA of 5.62 and a 4.6 BB/9.

Athletics vs. New York Yankees Probable Pitchers

  • Athletics: Jeffrey Springs
  • New York Yankees: Ryan Weathers
  • Time: 1:35 PM ET

Springs is prone to allowing home runs after posting a 1.4 HR/9 last season. He’ll face Weathers, who already has whiffed 11 but also walked five through eight innings.

Detroit Tigers vs. Minnesota Twins Probable Pitchers

  • Detroit Tigers: Jack Flaherty
  • Minnesota Twins: Mick Abel
  • Time: 1:40 PM ET

Flaherty is off to a very tough start to 2026, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits and eight walks through 8.1 innings. He’ll face Abel, who has been rocked himself by both the Rays and Orioles. He’s allowed nine runs on 14 hits through 7.1 innings.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. New York Mets Probable Pitchers

  • Arizona Diamondbacks: Eduardo Rodriguez
  • New York Mets: Nolan McLean
  • Time: 7:10 PM ET

Rodriguez has carried his success from the WBC into this season. He’s thrown 12 shutout innings against both the Braves and Dodgers. He’ll face McLean, who is already posting identical numbers from his 2025 season. He owns a 10.4 K/9 with a 2.61 ERA and a 2.28 xERA.

Chicago White Sox vs. Kansas City Royals Probable Pitchers

  • Chicago White Sox: Anthony Kay
  • Kansas City Royals: Seth Lugo
  • Time: 7:40 PM ET

Kay found his way back to the MLB after spending time in the NPB. Through nine innings, he has a 4.00 ERA, an 8.58 xERA, and a 6.1 BB/9. He’ll oppose Lugo, who has only allowed two runs through 11.1 innings but has a xERA of 4.56.

Colorado Rockies vs. San Diego Padres Probable Pitchers

  • Colorado Rockies: TBD
  • San Diego Padres: Randy Vasquez
  • Time: 9:40 PM ET

Vasquez continues to post some poor numbers against lefties, something the Rockies lineup can load up on. Since last season, Vasquez has been tagged for a .335 wOBA with a 5.24 FIP and a 1.2 HR/9.
