The PGA TOUR has reached the first major of 2026, and it’s time to tee it up once again at Augusta National for the Masters! It’s one of the highlights of the golf year, and the field is stacked with stars in what should be a wide-open week full of drama and excitement. He won each of his last two events on LIV Golf, claiming the titles in South Africa and Singapore after starting the year with a T-17 in Riyadh, a T-3 in Adelaide and a T-24 in Hong Kong. He beat Jon Rahm in a playoff in South Africa to claim his fifth career LIV Golf League win.
He ranks first in this elite field in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee in the last 12 months, third in Total Strokes Gained and third in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green, according to DataGolf. DeChambeau has a long and colorful history at Augusta National, dating back to his T-21 as the low amateur back in 2016. He struggled during his “mad scientist” bulk-up years, but he has finished T-6 and T-5 the last two seasons. With so much form coming into his return to the Masters, he has a great chance to be in the top 10 again in 2026.
Akshay Bhatia Top 20
Bhatia has continued to emerge as one of the most exciting young stars in golf, and he claimed his third career win on the PGA TOUR at the Arnold Palmer Invitational earlier this year (where Bryson is also a former champion). That win was one of his five straight top-20 finishes coming to Augusta, including a top-20 at TPC Scottsdale, a top-20 at TPC Sawgrass, and three top-20 finishes in Signature Events with excellent fields.
Bhatia will be playing the Masters for the third time in his career after finishing T-35 in 2024 and T-42 in 2025. His better form should help him post his first career top-20 at Augusta National, especially since he gets the boost of playing left-handed, which historically has allowed better routing and shot-shaping. He ranks third in the field in Strokes Gained: Approach over the last 20 rounds and fourth in Total Strokes Gained. If he can stay in form, he has a good chance of notching a top-20 finish this week, and he could even contend if things go his way.
Si Woo Kim over Chris Gotterup (3 Way)
To finish out this same game parlay, I’m taking Si Woo Kim to win a tournament matchup over Chris Gotterup. The “3 way” matchups score a tie as a third outcome, meaning Kim needs to finish ahead of Gotterup for this leg to hit. Gotterup has won two events on the PGA TOUR already this season, but now he’ll be making his Masters debut. First-time players at Augusta have typically struggled, and Gotterup had been trailing off a little bit with a T-56 at THE PLAYERS before bouncing back with a nice T-6 at the Texas Children’s Houston Open two weeks ago. Gotterup’s strength is his driving distance and work around the green, which are important at Augusta National.
Gotterup doesn’t match Kim’s Strokes Gained: Approach, though, or his experience at this event. Kim ranks second in the field in Strokes Gained: Approach over the last three months, while Gotterup ranks 26th. Kim leads the field in Driving Accuracy over that span, while Gotterup ranks 74th, which could lead to trouble depending on his misses. While Gotterup will be navigating Augusta National for the first time competitively, Kim is making his ninth Masters start. He missed the cut in his debut but made the cut in seven straight years before not qualifying for the event last year. During that run, he posted three top-25 finishes, highlighted by a T-12 in 2021. Based on his experience and steady tee-to-green performance this season, I think Kim will outplay Gotterup this week.
