It’s finally here – the fifth and final season of The Boys is about to premiere. The constantly-controversial superhero show from Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg has been streaming since 2019, starting out as an adaptation of a cult-classic comic series before going down its own path.

When does The Boys Season 5 come out?
Season 5 will premiere on Prime Video at 3 a.m. ET on Wednesday, April 8. The fifth season, like the previous four, will consist of eight episodes.
The season will start with a two-episode premiere, with each one expected to clock in around 1 hour apiece. Episode 1 is titled Fifteen Inches of Sheer Dynamite, while Episode 2 is titled Teenage Kix. Each of the next six episodes will come out once a week until the series finale on May 20.

The Boys boasts a pretty big ensemble cast, not to mention whatever crossover could be coming from the Gen V cast. What to expect in The Boys Season 5
At the end of Season 4, Butcher gave in to his dark side, continuing to take Compound V and killing Victoria Neuman. While Homelander is disappointed in losing a powerful supe, Sage reaffirms that everything went according to her plans. Incoming President Robert Singer was arrested for conspiring to kill Neuman, leading to Speaker of the House Steven Calhoun taking control of the White House. Calhoun is a puppet for Homelander, immediately enacting martial law and putting Homelander in charge of rounding up the opposition and imprisoning them in special camps. That included The Boys, although Starlight escaped and Butcher remained off the grid with Frenchie and Dr. Shah’s new supe-killing virus.
Then, in the Gen V Season 2 finale, Starlight and A-Train welcomed Marie, Jordan, Emma and Cate to their cause. With that crew joining the fight, plus Stan Edgar, Ryan Butcher and Zoe Neuman in the mix, Homelander and Vought just might meet their match. Soldier Boy is coming out of cryo-sleep, though, so the final battle won’t exactly be easy. Homelander is also seeking out the first iteration of Compound V – V1 – which could make him invincible.

Will there be another season of The Boys?
The show’s creators have confirmed that there will not be another season of The Boys after Season 5. However, there are multiple spinoffs in the works. While there isn’t any movement on a potential Gen V Season 3, prequel series Vought Rising and The Boys: Mexico are both in development. Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy is confirmed to be returning for the former.
