The Masters will be played at the renowned Augusta National Golf Club (par 72, 7,565 yards, bentgrass greens), which has been the only course to host the Masters since its inception in 1934. At last year’s Masters, Rory McIlroy (-11) won to complete his career grand slam. There will be 91 golfers competing this week with a top-50 and ties cut after the first two rounds.
Below, I have featured two of my favorite outright long shot bets to win the Masters on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Sungjae Im (+11500)
Im was in the driver seat for his third PGA TOUR win at the Valspar Championship a few weeks ago. He held a two-shot lead heading into the final round, but faltered Sunday and finished T4th. Still, this was an impressive performance for Im and his third top-20 finish in his last 10 starts. He also went on to finish T60th at the Houston Open in his next start after the Valspar Championship, but this wasn’t much of a surprise, as he has finished T50th or worse in three of his four starts at Memorial Park.
This week, Im will be at a course he is much more comfortable at in Augusta National. At this par 72, Im has made 4-of-6 cuts and finished inside the top-10 three times. The 28-year-old finished runner-up in his first start at Augusta National in 2021, which was extremely impressive for a debutant. Then, Im finished T8th in 2022 and T5th last season. Among this field, he ranks 13th in strokes gained per round at Augusta National. Im is very fond of this track and he is worth a dart throw at these very long odds.
Gary Woodland (+12000)
After finishing T14th at the Valspar Championship, Woodland rejoined the winner’s circle at the Houston Open in his next start. The veteran won by five shots at Memorial Park and this was an emotional victory for Woodland, as he has been battling with PTSD following brain surgery in 2023. The impressive win in Texas is hopefully a sign of more things to come from Woodland and he now heads to Augusta National playing his best golf in quite some time.
Woodland has been inconsistent at Augusta National, making 5-of-11 cuts at the course, but he finished T13th here three years ago and is better equipped to contend at Augusta National now than in recent years. That’s not only because he is coming off a win, but because Woodland’s driver has been his best club in the bag this season. The 41-year-old ranks second in driving distance and sixth in SG OTT. Before this, the last year Woodland cracked the top 10 in either metric was in 2019… guess what happened that season? Woodland won the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach by three shots for his first major victory. Each of the last four Masters winners have finished the event top 10 in SG OTT, so Woodland’s driver leading him to his first green jacket this week isn’t the craziest idea.
