Gary Sanchez More Than 1.5 Batter Strikeouts
Gary Sanchez is not looking forward to facing Garrett Crochet tonight. Sanchez is 0/5 in his career against Crochet. To make matters worse, Sanchez has a 0% hard-hit percentage against Crochet in those five at-bats. He has never been able to generate solid contact against Boston’s left-hander. These two faced off almost exactly a year ago today when Sanchez was with Baltimore. Sanchez went 0/3 with a strikeout in that game. The other meeting between the two was in 2023, when Sanchez was with Milwaukee the first time around, and Crochet was with the White Sox. Sanchez went 0/2 with a strikeout in that game. So, in two career starts against Garrett Crochet, Gary Sanchez struck out in both games. Sanchez has struck out in six of his 16 plate appearances so far this season. Crochet and the Red Sox should strike him out at least twice in this game.
Freddy Peralta More Than 5.5 Strikeouts Thrown
Freddy Peralta has had a bright start to his Mets career. He did not have his best stuff on Opening Day, but managed to limit the damage and lead the Mets to a win. Peralta looked much better in his second start against the Cardinals. He pitched 5.1 innings and gave up just one run. Most importantly for this play, Peralta’s strikeout numbers in both starts have been excellent. Despite not making it out of the sixth inning in either start, Peralta threw seven strikeouts in both games. It is only a two-start sample size, but that comes out to 12.2 strikeouts per nine innings. If he maintains that number the whole season, it would be his best strikeout numbers since his 2021 All-Star season. The Mets would hope that Peralta can start going even deeper into starts, which should only bolster his total strikeout numbers. After striking out seven in both of his first two starts, Peralta should hit at least six strikeouts in this home game against Arizona.
Christian Walker More Than 1.5 Total Bases
Christian Walker has had a great start to the 2026 MLB season. He is batting .333 with a 1.023 OPS through 11 games this season. Walker is hoping to keep his hot bat going at Coors Field. In the first game of the series, Walker had two hits and recorded a run and an RBI. Tonight, he gets to take on Kyle Freeland, a pitcher he has dominated over the years. There is a ton of familiarity here, with 41 career at-bats against each other. Walker is batting .317 in those meetings with three home runs. Walker has a 1.045 career OPS at Coors Field, the third-best figure at any ballpark where he has played at least five games. He should continue his success at Coors Field and against Freeland, totaling more than 1.5 total bases for the second consecutive game in this series. Nobody in Major League Baseball has more doubles than Walker this season, and another one of those would push him over this number with one swing.
