Today’s slate features a full schedule of games, highlighted by Cam Schlittler continuing his dominant start to the season, Sandy Alcantara maintaining elite form on the mound, and a high-strikeout matchup between Jacob Misiorowski and Garrett Crochet.

Top Pitching Matchups for April 7, 2026

  • Cam Schlittler hasn’t allowed a run through 11.2 innings and faces the Athletics
  • Sandy Alcantara has been as good as advertised with a 0.00 ERA and 1.45 xERA
  • Jacob Misiorowski & Garrett Crochet bring their high strikeout upside against each other in a potential pitchers duel

Kansas City Royals vs. Cleveland Guardians Probable Pitchers

  • Kansas City Royals: Noah Cameron
  • Cleveland Guardians: Gavin Williams
  • Time: 1:10 PM ET

Cameron was solid in his 2026 debut, tossing five innings allowing just one run on four hits with five strikeouts against the Twins. He’ll be opposed by Williams, who shut out the Dodgers through seven innings with 10 strikeouts last week.

Baltimore Orioles vs. Chicago White Sox Probable Pitchers

  • Baltimore Orioles: Trevor Rogers
  • Chicago White Sox: Shane Smith
  • Time: 3:10 PM ET

While his strikeouts are down, Rogers has allowed just two runs through 13 innings of work thus far in 2026. He’ll face Smith, who has been rocked for 12 runs (10 earned) on 11 hits in just 4.2 innings and two starts.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. New York Mets Probable Pitchers

  • Arizona Diamondbacks: Zac Gallen
  • New York Mets: Freddy Peralta
  • Time: 4:10 PM ET

Gallen’s underlying stats tell us he’s been lucky thus far. His 8.20 xERA is nowhere near his 3.60 ERA. He’ll be opposed by Peralta, who hasn’t been getting that luck just yet. His 4.35 ERA is looking bloated next to an xERA of 2.46.

Chicago Cubs vs. Tampa Bay Rays Probable Pitchers

  • Chicago Cubs: Javier Assad
  • Tampa Bay Rays: Drew Rasmussen
  • Time: 6:40 PM ET

Assad is being recalled from Triple-A with the Cubs dealing with injuries to their rotation. He has limited strikeout upside with shaky command. He’ll face Rasmussen, who has allowed one run in each of his two starts thus far.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Miami Marlins Probable Pitchers

  • Cincinnati Reds: Andrew Abbott
  • Miami Marlins: Sandy Alcantara
  • Time: 6:40 PM ET

Abbott stumbled in his last start against the Red Sox, allowing four runs on five hits through 5.2 innings. He’ll oppose Alcantara, who has yet to allow a run through 16 innings thus far.

San Diego Padres vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Probable Pitchers

  • San Diego Padres: Nick Pivetta
  • Pittsburgh Pirates: Paul Skenes
  • Time: 6:40 PM ET

It’s a matchup of two starters who were destroyed in their first start but bounced back in their second. Pivetta shut out the Giants after giving up six to the Tigers. Skenes allowed one run through five innings to the Reds after only making it through 2/3 of an inning against the Mets on Opening Day.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Boston Red Sox Probable Pitchers

  • Milwaukee Brewers: Jacob Misiorowski
  • Boston Red Sox: Garrett Crochet
  • Time: 6:45 PM ET

The strikeout upside of Misiorowski has been on full display already, as he’s sent down 18 through 11 innings. He’ll face Crochet, who has whiffed 15 through 11 innings of his own.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Washington Nationals Probable Pitchers

  • St. Louis Cardinals: Matthew Liberatore
  • Washington Nationals: Cade Cavalli
  • Time: 6:45 PM ET

Liberatore is not generating swings-and-misses, but he is getting outs, allowing just two runs through 11 innings. Cavalli has looked great thus far, but he needs to command the ball better and improve his 4.6 BB/9.

Athletics vs. New York Yankees Probable Pitchers

  • Athletics: Aaron Civale
  • New York Yankees: Cam Schlittler
  • Time: 7:05 PM ET

Civale is another pitcher who is getting outs but not strikeouts. He’s only sent down three through five innings. Schlittler has yet to allow a run through 11.2 innings to go with 15 strikeouts.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Toronto Blue Jays Probable Pitchers

  • Los Angeles Dodgers: Yoshinobu Yamamoto
  • Toronto Blue Jays: Kevin Gausman
  • Time: 7:07 PM ET

We could be in for a good ol’ fashioned pitchers duel for this game. Yamamoto has allowed just two runs in each of his starts with eight strikeouts. Gausman has generated a massive 20.3% swing-and-miss rate through two starts and 12 innings.

Detroit Tigers vs. Minnesota Twins Probable Pitchers

  • Detroit Tigers: Tarik Skubal
  • Minnesota Twins: Taj Bradley
  • Time: 7:40 PM ET

Skubal has actually been quite lucky thus far, as despite a 0.69 ERA, his 4.06 xERA tells a different story. He’ll oppose Bradley, who has a solid 12.5% swing-and-miss rate through two starts.

Seattle Mariners vs. Texas Rangers Probable Pitchers

  • Seattle Mariners: George Kirby
  • Texas Rangers: Nathan Eovaldi
  • Time: 8:05 PM ET

Kirby is struggling to regain that pinpoint command we’ve seen early in his career, but he’s inducing a healthy amount of ground balls at 54%. Eovaldi is getting strikeouts but when hitters are making contact, it’s been loud with a 56% hard-hit rate allowed.

Houston Astros vs. Colorado Rockies Probable Pitchers

  • Houston Astros: Mike Burrows
  • Colorado Rockies: Kyle Freeland
  • Time: 8:40 PM ET

Burrows has allowed a lot of contact and traffic on the basepaths. Not only has he given up 14 hits, but he’s issued five free passes in just 10.2 innings. Freeland has been lucky the damage against him hasn’t been worse, as his 2.89 ERA is accompanied by an xERA of 5.23.

Atlanta Braves vs. Los Angeles Angels Probable Pitchers

  • Atlanta Braves: Reynaldo Lopez
  • Los Angeles Angels: Yusei Kikuchi
  • Time: 9:38 PM ET

Lopez has been great through 11 innings, allowing just two total runs. However, his strikeout numbers have been quite low with a 4.9 K/9. He’ll face Kikuchi, who has been abysmal through 9.2 innings. He’s been tagged for seven runs on 14 hits and five walks against the Astros and Cubs.
