MLB Picks: Jacob deGrom Strikeouts Props Seattle Mariners vs. Texas Rangers for Monday 4/6/26

The Seattle Mariners are visiting the Texas Rangers on Monday, with first pitch set for 8:05 p.m. ET/5:05 p.m. PT. Jacob deGrom will take the bump for the Rangers, facing off against Mariners righty Logan Gilbert in Arlington. Looking at the odds, lines and deGrom’s strikeouts prop on DraftKings Sportsbook, here is a breakdown of how the All-Star could perform in his second outing of the season.

Jacob deGrom Strikeouts Prop

DraftKings Sportsbook currently has deGrom’s strikeouts thrown line set at 6.5 for Monday’s contest against the Mariners.

In his regular season debut back on March 31, deGrom lasted 4.2 innings against the Orioles. He allowed six hits and three earned runs while recording seven strikeouts. He threw 56 of his 79 pitches for strikes, inducing four grounders, nine fly balls, five line drives and one pop up. DeGrom posted 3.0 scoreless innings in his lone Spring Training contest, allowing two hits and one walk with five strikeouts. On top of that, he gave up three hits and one run in 2.0 innings against Team Brazil.

DeGrom tossed just 265.1 innings between 2020 and 2024. He had a 2.10 ERA, 0.750 WHIP and 13.9 strikeouts per nine innings over that same stretch, but he struggled to stay healthy. The right-hander got back on track in 2025, going 172.2 innings across 30 starts. He went 12-8 with a 2.97 ERA, 0.921 WHIP and 3.0 WAR, returning to the All-Star Game and placing eighth in AL Cy Young voting. And yet, deGrom’s 9.6 strikeouts per nine innings were his fewest since 2016.

Based on FanGraphs‘ Steamer model, deGrom is projected to go 11-9 with a 3.43 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 195 strikeouts across 28 starts and 164.0 innings in 2026. His 4.0 projected fWAR ranks No. 8 among starting pitchers, while his projected 10.44 strikeouts per nine innings ranks No. 12.

Jacob deGrom picks, predictions

DeGrom reached seven strikeouts in 15 of his 30 starts last season, so a real coin flip. He lasted at least 5.0 innings in 29 of his 30 starts, though, so there is effectively a built-in floor there in terms of usage. And even when he failed to complete the fifth inning last week, deGrom still made it to seven punchouts.

In terms of the matchup, the Mariners’ lineup has already struck out 104 times this season – good for second-most in the big leagues. They struck out seven and 10 times through the first 5.0 innings in their last two games as well.

I’m picking deGrom to fan more than 6.5 Seattle batters on Monday, given his strikeout efficiency in spring and his season debut. He may not be as dominant as he was at his peak with the Mets, but the 37-year-old is still one of MLB’s better strikeout artists.

Best Bet: Jacob deGrom over 6.5 strikeouts thrown (-147)
