There’s a new member of the Five-Timer’s Club.
Hollywood superstar Jack Black is set to host Saturday Night Live on April 4, officially crossing the velvet rope into the show’s exclusive circle of five-time hosts.
He returns to Studio 8H fresh off the release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which landed in theaters on April 1.
Fueling the spectacle, Black will be joined by his “Brother From Another Color,” musical guest Jack White.
The School of Rock and A Minecraft Movie star made his SNL hosting debut in January 2002. His triumphant return during last year’s landmark 50th season marked his first time headlining the show since 2005.
Later, during an April 2025 appearance on the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast — which was filmed shortly after his return — the SNL icon revealed to Black that he was her favorite host of all time.
The voice of Po the panda has also graced the SNL stage as a musical guest, performing with his comedy duo Tenacious D in 2006. They also appeared as an uncredited musical act in 1998.
Speaking of musical guests, the 12-time Grammy winner White is tabbed for his seventh SNL appearance. He first took the stage as one half of The White Stripes in 2002, then returned for several solo performances over the years. Most recently, in 2025, he closed out SNL50: The Homecoming Concert.
Saturday marks a reunion for the Jacks, who teamed up for the 2019 Tenacious D single, “Don’t Blow It, Kage,” which was produced and recorded by White in his Nashville home studio.
Funny enough, Woody Harrelson inadvertently foreshadowed the monochrome pairing ahead of his SNL hosting gig with the “Seven Nation Army” singer in February 2023.
And with no upcoming album to plug, it’s entirely possible that “Jack Gray” could rock the roof off 30 Rock.
