New York Yankees vs. Miami Marlins prediction, pick for MLB on Friday 4/03/26

The Miami Marlins (5-1) head to the Bronx for the New York Yankees’ home opener against a fellow 5-1 club. This is a clean contrast game: Miami arrives with one of the league’s hottest early offenses, while New York has ridden elite run prevention to its record. Eury Pérez (RHP) faces Will Warren (RHP), and the question is whether Miami’s contact-heavy surge translates against a staff that has barely allowed anything, or whether New York’s pitching control continues to dictate game shape. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for today’s baseball game between the New York Yankees and the Miami Marlins.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Yankees vs. Marlins prediction, preview

Miami has been the louder offense through six games, hitting .290/.365/.482 with 33 runs, 56 hits, and a 140 wRC+, while striking out just 18.8% of the time. That is not just hot—it is a profile built on balls in play and sustained pressure. New York, by contrast, is at .227/.287/.359 with a 91 wRC+ and a 26.9% strikeout rate, but the run-prevention side has been dominant: 1.01 team ERA, no home runs allowed by the staff, and opponents held to six total runs across six games. This is offense versus suppression, and the market is clearly pricing the latter.

The player layer leans Miami in terms of current production and lineup depth against right-handed pitching. The Marlins’ righty-facing group keeps its hottest bats together: Liam Hicks (three homers, 330 wRC+, 1.133 SLG), Xavier Edwards (.409/.435/.455, 158 wRC+), Otto Lopez (179 wRC+, .432 wOBA), and Owen Caissie (.600 SLG, 172 wRC+). That is multiple paths to offense, not just one anchor. New York’s production has been more concentrated. Ben Rice (.412/.524/.765, 267 wRC+) and Giancarlo Stanton (.750 SLG, 269 wRC+) have carried the damage, with Cody Bellinger at a 136 wRC+, but the rest of the lineup has lagged: Aaron Judge (52 wRC+), Ryan McMahon (-16), and José Caballero (25) through the first week. The names are imposing; the output has not been evenly distributed.

Marlins vs. Yankees pick, best bet

Pérez was strong in his first start—7.0 IP, 3 ER, 8 K, 1 BB—and his 2025 baseline supports it (3.02 ERA, 3.28 FIP, 1.05 WHIP, 27.3% K rate). But Warren is still the more volatile arm in this matchup. His first outing was clean on the surface (4.1 IP, 1 ER), yet his 2025 profile sits at a 4.44 ERA, 4.57 FIP, 1.22 HR/9, which is closer to mid-rotation than suppressor. Miami’s lineup construction against righties—contact-oriented with multiple left-handed or switch bats—forces him to navigate traffic rather than chase strikeouts. New York’s staff as a whole has been elite, but the starting matchup here is not as one-sided as the price suggests.

The spot tightens the game rather than opening it. Miami comes in off Sandy Alcantara’s complete-game shutout, leaving its bullpen fully rested behind Pérez. New York’s bullpen has been excellent as well, but it did absorb a 40-pitch outing from David Bednar in the previous game, which slightly narrows the late-inning edge. The Yankees have also scored 24 runs in six games—a solid number, but not one that matches the aura of the lineup—and have been held to three runs or fewer in four of those six. Combine that with mid-50s April conditions in the Bronx and a wind that is not helping the ball carry, and this projects more as a controlled game than an explosive one.

Best bet: Marlins ML (+141). The market is charging a premium for New York’s run prevention, and that part is justified. But at -171, the bet asks the Yankees’ offense to do more than it has shown so far against a legitimate frontline arm. Miami brings the better current offensive profile, a starter with top-end strikeout ability, and a fully rested bullpen into this spot. The way it dies is New York’s bullpen continuing to erase everything and the Yankees finally stringing together contact against Pérez the third time through, but the price is wide enough to take the more complete current version of the Marlins.

Projected score: Marlins 4, Yankees 3. Slight lean, too to the u8.0 total runs (-115).

Best bet: Marlins (+140) at Yankees
