Franz Wagner is finally questionable to play tonight, a major step in the right direction for the Magic after the star missed 47 of his team’s 75 total games this season due to various injuries. If he does play, he’ll surely have a minutes limit, but I still like 12+ points for him tonight given his talent.
Wagner averages 21.3 PPG this season, the second-best mark of his five-year career. He’s a versatile scorer with a major role in this Orlando offense, displaying an ability to slash to the basket while still knocking down threes off the dribble and create his own shot on the perimeter. Given how much time he’s missed, I fully believe the coaching staff will want to make it a priority for Wagner to get back into a rhythm with just seven games remaining until the postseason. With that in mind, he may see around just 20 minutes of action but could still take on a pretty large workload in terms of shot volume — especially since the Hawks’ offense can score with the best of them.
Wagner has recorded 12+ points in 26/28 games he’s suited up for this season. His only misses both came in contests he was injured in, one of which saw him play just seven minutes. When he returned from a month-long absence in January, he scored 18 points in 27 minutes. Likewise, he scored 14 points in 17 minutes when he came back from another three-week absence back in early February. He had at least 10 shot attempts in each, so watch for Wagner to be involved tonight if he does play.
Jonathan Kuminga 5+ rebounds (+117)
The Jonathan Kuminga saga reached its conclusion when the young forward was shipped from the Golden State Warriors to the Hawks around the trade deadline. Since arriving in Atlanta, the results have looked pretty solid for him. The former lottery pick averages 11.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game across 11 appearances, and while he’s getting just 21.7 minutes a night, you can’t really deny that he’s playing productive ball. Kuminga fits like a puzzle piece within this roster and has slid into a lower-usage role that suits him well.
Here’s the part we’d like to focus on. Since joining the Hawks, Kuminga brings an average of 6.1 rebounds per game, which would mark a new career high if applied to a full season’s sample. Over this sample, he’s pulled down at least five rebounds in nine of those 11 games as well, giving us a remarkable hit rate of nearly 82% on this prop line. I’m confident that the 6-foot-7, 225-pound player can bring in at least five rebounds, which makes this prop a great pick at plus odds. Yes, the Magic are ninth in REB%, but that means Atlanta’s guys should only be more engaged on the glass in this one.
