Jeff’s King of the Court Pick for Tuesday, March 31: Luka Doncic
We’re rolling out back-to-back chalk selections, as I picked Nikola Jokic last week, who ultimately claimed the crown with 57 points, rebounds and assists.
When Luka Doncic is suiting up on a Tuesday, it immediately becomes hard not to pick him for this promo. It becomes infinitely more difficult to pivot with the MVP candidate in as incredible form as he is at the moment. Doncic has amassed at least 52 points, rebounds and assists in four of his last six outings. His usage rate has been absolutely astronomical over that stretch, never dipping below 39.9%. Everything runs through Luka right now within the Lakers’ offense, which is a key reason he’s surging in the MVP race and the Lakers are currently the No. 3 seed in the West, alongside stellar complementary play from LeBron James and Austin Reaves.
Examining the rest of Tuesday’s seven-game slate, there are no obvious names that pop out as contenders who could vie with Luka for the crown. Alperen Sengun is one possibility that does intrigue me, but when you take into consideration the fact that Doncic will also be well-rested after serving his one-game suspension against the Wizards, it’s hard to go any other route than his.
