First, I’m taking Poland to advance in this matchup. They are the higher ranked team in the FIFA World Rankings for a reason, and their qualifying results in the group were much better than Sweden’s, who struggled mightily and entered these play-offs based on Nations League results. These teams last faced off in 2022 in this exact same scenario when trying to qualify for the last World Cup. It was the UEFA Path B play-off final, and Poland were 2-0 victors on that day. I’m expecting a similar result in this one.
Next, I’m taking Robert Lewandowski to score. Guess who scored in that 2-0 win back in 2022? Guess who scored in their play-off semi-final win over Albania? Guess who led them in scoring during the qualifying group? Lewandowski is and has always been the main man for Poland. The Barcelona striker is one of the best at his position in the world for doing one thing, and that’s putting the ball in the back of the net. Lewandowski is getting up there in age, but is still one of the best finishers in the world.
