Aaron Rai Injury Update: Withdraws from Texas Children’s Houston Open

Rai has withdrawn from the Texas Children’s Houston Open with a neck injury before his first-round tee time Thursday at Memorial Park. Replacing Rai in the field will be Taylor Moore.

Rai had missed back-to-back cuts leading up to the Houston Open, so maybe the neck injury has been bothering him for some time. This is unfortunate timing, as Memorial Park is a course Rai has played well at in the past.

The Englishman missed the cut at the par 70 last season, but before this, Rai finished T19th, T7th and T7th in his first three starts at Memorial Park. Given Rai had missed his last two cuts before this week and he hasn’t finished higher than T23rd this season, he was only rostered by 2.6% of the field in the $750K Sand Trap on DraftKings.

Rai’s next scheduled start comes at Augusta National for the Masters in two weeks, but it remains to be seen if he will be healthy enough to compete at the major. Rai finished T27th in his Masters debut last season and he carries +13000 odds to win the tournament in two weeks on DraftKings Sportsbook.
