Baseball is back with an old-school matchup in primetime. The 2026 MLB season gets started with a battle between the Yankees and Giants. New York, led by superstar Aaron Judge, will hope to earn its second American League pennant in three years. San Francisco is attempting to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2021. During this interleague matchup, who will step up for these two historic franchises?
The Yankees enter Wednesday as 1.5-run favorites (+149) over the Giants, with the over/under set at seven runs. Here are two player props on DraftKings Sportsbook for tonight’s season-opening showdown.
Ryan McMahon 1+ hit (-122)
Aaron Judge. Cody Bellinger. Giancarlo Stanton. Ryan McMahon? If there’s a weak link in this loaded Yankees lineup, it’s their third baseman. Last season, split between New York and Colorado, the 31-year-old slashed .217/.314/.403 with 20 home runs and 53 RBIs. Granted, the veteran makes up for a lackluster bat with Gold Glove-caliber defense. Regardless, that can make McMahon a difficult sell on most nights for bettors. It’s no coincidence that he owns the lowest odds of any Yankees batter to record a hit on Wednesday.
With that being said, the former Rockies standout has experience in the NL West. That includes plenty of battles with tonight’s starter, Logan Webb. San Francisco’s ace is a throwback, opting to induce soft contact rather than strikeouts. Over 46 career plate appearances, McMahon is batting .310 with a home run against the All-Star. That includes a stellar .333 batting average at pitcher-friendly Oracle Park. Despite a difficult spring training, McMahon offers clear value here at just -122 to get a hit.
Rafael Devers 2+ total bases (+149)
The Giants pulled off a blockbuster last June, acquiring Rafael Devers from the Red Sox. One year later, and the results have been mixed to say the least. San Francisco squandered a hot start, eventually falling out of the playoff race. Their superstar slugger was decent, albeit not spectacular. Through 90 games with his new team, Devers delivered .236/.347/.460 splits with 20 homers and 51 RBIs. Those aren’t bad numbers, but it’s not quite what fans were hoping for.
After an offseason getting acclimated to Northern California, expect a better version of Devers this season. What better way to get off on the right foot than facing a familiar foe? The three-time All-Star has earned his reputation as a Yankee killer. Devers is batting .270 against the Pinstripes, with 54 of his 120 career hits against them going for extra bases. That includes three hits in nine at-bats against staff ace Max Fried (.333 batting average). San Francisco’s best hitter is someone worth heavy consideration at +149 tonight.
