The Texas Children’s Houston Open will be played at Memorial Park (par 70, 7,475 yards, Poa trivialis greens) in Houston. Min Woo Lee (-20) is the defending champion and this is the sixth Houston Open in a row to be played at Memorial Park. There will be 133 players competing this week and a top-65 and ties cut.
Below, I have featured two of my favorite long shot outright bets to win the Texas Children’s Houston Open on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Gary Woodland (+9400)
Woodland is very fond of this course. After missing the cut in his first attempt at the venue, Woodland has finished T9, T21 and runner-up in his last three starts at Memorial Park. Woodland’s runner-up here came just last season, when he shot a course-record 8-under 62 in the final round to finish one stroke back of the winner. Woodland also carded a 6-under 64 in the second round, and he has shot under par in 10 of his 14 rounds at Memorial Park. Woodland is gaining 1.7 strokes per round at the par 70, which ranks ninth among this field.
Memorial Park is a driver-heavy course, so Woodland flourishing here makes a ton of sense. Even though he has missed 4-of-7 cuts this season, Woodland has been one of the best drivers on the PGA TOUR, ranking first in driving distance and fourth in SG OTT. Missing four cuts already in 2025 isn’t ideal, but Woodland’s game appeared to turn a corner last week at the Valspar Championship. The former U.S. Open champion finished a season-best T14 and he gained strokes in every major category at the Copperhead Course, except around the greens. Looking to build off this performance at a course he loves, Woodland needs to be on your betting card at these long odds.
Tom Kim (+9800)
While Kim has never competed at Memorial Park before, his game continues to improve and these odds feel way too long for the three-time PGA TOUR winner. Excluding his withdrawal from the Wyndham Champion in August, Kim has made 11 straight cuts and he just finished T18 at the Valspar Championship last week. This marked Kim’s best finish of the season and, for the fourth start in a row, he gained strokes on approach.
In fact, Kim gained 1.25 strokes on approach, which ranked sixth for the event, and was the most he has gained in the metric since last July. Four of the last five winners at Memorial Park have finished the week top-15 in SG APP, so Kim’s irons trending up bodes well for this week. The 23-year-old just needs to find some luck with his putter, and if that happens, Kim absolutely could contend.
