NHL Picks Today: Best Bets for Sunday 3/22/26
Wyatt Johnston Anytime Goalscorer (+150)
While the Stars played last night, zero days’ rest has not affected Johnston at all, as he has notched a goal in each of his past five home games on the second leg of a back-to-back. The 22-year-old has scored eight times since returning from the break and in each of his past three home games. Adin Hill is the expected starter for the Golden Knights, and while he has played better across his six starts, all of those were played at home, and his road numbers are rather poor with a 3.69 GAA and .836 SV%. Vegas ranks 22nd in 5v5 goals against per 60, while Dallas ranks 13th in 5v5 goals per 60. Across their last 10 home games, the Stars have averaged 3.9 goals per game, and I expect Johnston to be involved.
Nikita Kucherov Anytime Goalscorer (+125)
Kucherov has been a road cash cow all season, and I expect the trend to continue tonight against the Flames. Devin Cooley will draw his 22nd start of the season for Calgary, and he has put up rather elite numbers with a 2.47 GAA and .915 SV%. He ranks seventh in the NHL in goals saved above expected, and he has a 2.60 GAA across his past 10 starts, despite a 2-6-2 record. However, Tampa Bay is a wagon and has scored 5+ goals in each of its past three outings. Kucherov scored six goals across those three games, and he has netted at least one goal in 15 of his last 20 road outings. He also ranks fifth in the NHL in 5v5 goals per 60.
Cutter Gauthier 4+ Shots on Goal (+100)
Gauthier has been quiet in the shooting department the last few games; however, tonight is a good bounce-back spot against a Sabres team that played last night and ranks eighth in shots against per game. Buffalo has particularly struggled to limit opposing right wingers, too, allowing the third-most shots per game to the position. Besides the juicy matchup, Gauthier ranks third in the NHL in shots and has been more dependable at home, clearing 4+ SOG in five of his last six home games. The Sabres have allowed the eighth-most 5v5 shots against, which should bode well for Gauthier, who ranks first in 5v5 shot attempts per 60 and second in 5v5 shots per 60.
