Arkansas Razorbacks vs. High Point Panthers prediction, pick for March Madness Second Round on Saturday 3/21/26

The Round of 32 tends to expose the difference between a fun story and a team built to keep punching once the bracket gets louder. High Point arrives here as the last surviving No. 12 seed after its first NCAA tournament win in program history, an 83-82 shocker over Wisconsin. Arkansas walks in with a very different kind of momentum: six straight wins, an SEC tournament title, and a 97-78 opener against Hawaii that looked less like a survive-and-advance spot than a team reminding the field it has real second-weekend teeth. This is the tension in one game: Cinderella with a live offensive script against a four-seed that suddenly looks a lot more like a fringe contender than a vulnerable favorite. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for today’s March Madness college basketball game between the Arkansas Razorbacks and the High Point Panthers.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Arkansas vs. High Point prediction, preview

Arkansas averages 90.1 points per game, shoots 50.1% from the floor and 38.3% from three, and owns the best turnover rate in Division I at 10.7%, which is exactly the kind of stat that travels in March. High Point can absolutely score at 89.8 points per game with 48.9% shooting and only 9.3 turnovers per night, but the Panthers’ favorite defensive lever is forcing mistakes, and Arkansas is one of the worst possible opponents for that trick. When the Razorbacks broke Hawaii open, they shot 54.2%, stacked up 11 dunks and 17 layups, and led 54-36 at halftime. That is force.

Darius Acuff Jr. is averaging 23.0 points, 6.6 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 44.4% from three while shooting 48.6% from the field and 80.8% at the line, and his 223 assists against just 74 turnovers tell the bigger story—this is controlled star creation. Meleek Thomas gives Arkansas a second perimeter hammer at 15.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 41.5% from three, and 85.0% from the stripe, while Trevon Brazile adds 13.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.7 blocks, 1.6 steals, and 53.1% shooting, which is why the frontcourt keeps stressing both the rim and the glass. Then there is Malique Ewin at 9.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 59.7% shooting, plus Billy Richmond III at 11.0 points on 55.8% shooting—real secondary scoring that keeps the floor from narrowing around Acuff.

High Point has real counters, which is why the dog is dangerous at all. Terry Anderson is averaging 16.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.7 made free throws, and 56.0% shooting, a bruising scorer who also creates 1.5 steals per game. Rob Martin is the organizer at 15.6 points, 3.9 assists, 1.5 steals, and 83.4% at the line, and he just proved the ceiling with 23 points and 10 assists against Wisconsin. Cam’Ron Fletcher brings 12.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 54.1% shooting, and 1.2 steals, while Owen Aquino gives the Panthers 9.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.7 blocks, and 45.7% from three on lower volume. Chase Johnston is the flamethrower at 49.3% from deep, and that matters because his shooting is part of the exact three-point volatility door High Point needs. The difference is that High Point’s best pieces are good enough to keep the game alive, while Arkansas has more top-end creation, more size-backed efficiency, and more ways to keep generating clean offense if one scorer cools.

High Point vs. Arkansas pick, best bet

The matchup mechanics get even more interesting once the whistles and shot diet come into view. High Point is more than just a cute three-point story; the Panthers get to the line 26.3 times per game and made 15 threes in the Wisconsin upset, which means the dog path has two live doors. But High Point also sends opponents to the stripe 20.1 times per game, and that is dangerous against an Arkansas offense that wants paint touches first and cleanup threes second. The Panthers can keep this game noisy if Martin keeps the offense clean and the threes stay hot, but Arkansas is much better equipped than Wisconsin was to answer that with repeated downhill pressure. If the Razorbacks stay in single digits on turnovers, High Point has to win this game far more honestly in the half court, and that is where the talent gap starts to feel less decorative.

High Point absolutely deserves respect for what it just did, and an 83-82 win over a five-seed is huge. But Arkansas’ recent stretch has a heavier texture. The Razorbacks have won six in a row, have gone 11-2 over their last 13, and just blasted through a first-round game with the kind of early athletic force that usually belongs to teams playing into the second weekend. Calipari’s group is not asking Acuff to rescue every possession with difficult shotmaking. It is getting organization, depth, rim pressure, and multiple double-figure scorers at once. That is why the Cinderella story feels more likely to end here than extend one more night. High Point has the shooting and free-throw profile to stay dangerous; Arkansas has the current version that looks better suited to actually bend a game.

That is why the bet still lands on Arkansas -11.5, even with the big number carrying some obvious backdoor risk. High Point is good enough offensively to make this sweat if the Panthers turn it into a three-point-and-whistle game, but Arkansas has the more stable separation engines: elite ball security, the best player on the floor, a deeper set of creators, and an offense that does not need jump-shot luck to get to a big number. This feels like one of those Round of 32 games where the underdog lands enough punches to stay alive for a while, then the favorite’s size, speed, and cleaner offense take over the middle of the second half.

Arkansas 92, High Point 79.

Best bet: Arkansas -11.5 (-115) vs. High Point
