Yes, Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) dies in the film. There was a lot of speculation among fans about how Shelby’s story would end. Who Else Dies in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man?
In addition to our protagonist’s death, the film features several other major deaths. There is a shocking death at the beginning of the film, as Tommy Shelby’s sister, Ada Thorne (Sophie Rundle), is murdered by Beckett (Tim Roth), the main antagonist of the film. Ada is one of the most beloved characters from the series, and she was Tommy’s last surviving sibling. That is what made it such a heartbreaking death for both Tommy and the audience.
The reason Ada was Tommy’s last living sibling was the death of Arthur Shelby (Paul Anderson). Arthur was still alive at the end of the series, but due to a combination of plot choices and issues with the actor who portrays Arthur, they decided to kill him off between the end of the series and the start of the movie. The worst part is, it was Tommy who killed his own brother.
Apart from the major deaths of Tommy Shelby and Ada Thorne, along with Arthur Shelby’s off-screen death, no other major players from the series die. However, the film’s main antagonist, Beckett, does die at the end. He is an Englishman, but is working alongside the Nazis to bring down the British economy and end the war. After the Peaky Blinders blow up the cash and ruin the plan, it is Tommy Shelby who shoots Beckett dead in his final act before his own death.
