UPDATE: Kristaps Porzingis did not return on Friday night vs. the Pistons.
Golden State Warriors big man Kristaps Porzingis suffered a back injury during Friday’s game vs. the Detroit Pistons and is questionable to return.
Porzingis appeared to have suffered the injury during the second quarter. The exact instance that caused it is uncertain, but he did check out of the game and clutch at his back before heading to the locker room. He was subsequently deemed questionable to come back in.
Porzingis played 11 minutes in Friday’s game prior to his trip to the locker room. He scored five points with three rebounds and two blocks before heading back to the locker room.
The 30-year-old center averages 17.1 points and 5.1 rebounds since joining the Warriors during trade season. His health and availability has always been something of an issue at 7-foot-2, so this is just another page in what’s become a common occurrence at this stage of his career.
The Warriors are 33-36 on the season heading into the remainder of tonight’s contest against the Pistons, good for 10th in the Western Conference.
