The Miami Open is one of the best tennis tournaments of the year. Wednesday’s slate of matches got rained out in Miami. That means there is a loaded Thursday slate, with all of those matches that were slated for Wednesday, along with a good chunk of the matches that were originally scheduled for Thursday.
These are my Miami Open best bets to target on DraftKings Sportsbook for Thursday’s matches.
Miami Open Round of 128 Best Bets
Joao Fonseca vs. Fabian Marozsan: Joao Fonseca to Win 2:0 (+110)
Joao Fonseca is one of the most exciting young players in tennis. At just 19 years old, Fonseca is already the No. 39 player in the world. He won the 2024 Next Gen ATP Finals and has already won at least one match at all four Grand Slams. Fonseca started the season with an injury that kept him out of the Australian Open precursors and could have played a big part in him losing in the first round of the Australian Open. However, Fonseca has certainly found his game since. He went back to his home country for the Rio Open and won the title in Men’s Doubles.
At Indian Wells, Fonseca showed what he can do in singles, defeating World No. 15 Karen Khachanov and World No. 23 Tommy Paul to advance to the Round of 16. He lost to the eventual champion, Jannik Sinner, but took Sinner to a tiebreaker in both sets. Fonseca should have a ton of confidence in his game coming to Miami. Last year at the Miami Open, Fonseca defeated fellow young phenom Learner Tien and Ugo Humbert to advance to the Round of 32.
This year in the Round of 128, Fonseca faces Fabian Marozsan. This is a tough match for the opening round, but Fonseca is up to the task. Fonseca should be able to handle Marozsan in two sets. He won two of his three matches at Indian Wells in two sets, including against Tommy Paul. Fonseca also beat Ugo Humbert in two sets in this tournament last year. Fabian Marozsan has exited each of his past two tournaments, Indian Wells and Dubai, in the first round. That trend should continue for Marozsan as Fonseca takes care of him in short order.
Hubert Hurkacz vs. Ethan Quinn: Ethan Quinn ML (+120)
Ethan Quinn and Hubert Hurkacz are set to face off for the second time this year. These two met in the Round of 64 at the Australian Open in January. In that match, Quinn took care of Hurkacz in three sets, winning the clinching set 6-1. That was also the first-ever match between these two. Quinn is a young, up-and-coming player, while Hurkacz is clearly on the downslide of his career, partially due to a bad run of injuries.
Hurkacz missed basically the entire second half of last year after having surgery on his knee. He returned for the Australian Open, where Quinn knocked him out in the Round of 64. Since then, he has not won a single match. He got beaten in his opening match at the following tournaments: Open Occitane, ATP Rotterdam, Dubai Championships, Indian Wells, and Challenger Copa Cap Cana.
After his early departure at Indian Wells, Hurkacz played on a Challenger Tour event to try to get some sort of momentum before heading down to Miami. The highest-ranked player in that field was World No. 58 Miomir Kecmanovic. It should have been an easy opportunity for Hurkacz to at least get a couple of wins and get some confidence back. However, he was bounced in his first match against the at-the-time World No. 110, Mattia Bellucci.
Since Ethan Quinn beat Hubert Hurkacz at the Australian Open, Hurkacz has not won a single competitive tennis match. There is no reason to believe in Hurkacz, especially against an opponent who beat him in straight sets just a couple of months ago. The fact that Quinn is an underdog only makes this bet more enticing.
Francesca Jones vs. Venus Williams: Francesca Jones ML (-198)
Since her injury-plagued 2023 season, it has been a tough go for Venus Williams. She has used her legendary status to get wild cards to plenty of big tournaments, including the 2026 Miami Open. However, it is clear that Williams not only doesn’t have her best stuff but is also not competitive on any serious level. Williams has not made it out of the first round of a Grand Slam since 2021. Williams has gone seven straight tournaments, dating back to last year’s Cincinnati Masters, without winning a match. At Indian Wells, she lost in the Round of 128 to the World No. 102, Diane Parry.
Francesca Jones should make it eight straight tournaments without a win for the great Venus Williams. The Brit is currently ranked No. 93 in the world, higher than Diane Parry. Jones is still trying to find consistency in her game, but she has shown flashes of a higher ceiling in 2026 than Williams. To start the year, Jones upset Emma Navarro and made it to the quarterfinals at the ASB Classic. However, this is more of a fade of Williams than a play on Jones. Until Williams proves she can still win a competitive tennis match, I will bet against her, especially when the price is slightly more favorable than it should be due to her name recognition value.
