The PGA TOUR heads to Tampa this week for the 2026 Valspar Championship at Innisbrook Resort’s Copperhead Course. The course is a tough one that typically ranks among the hardest in the regular PGA TOUR rotation relative to par. The closing three holes, called “The Snake Pit,” make up one of the hardest stretches anywhere in the game, and Sunday’s Final Round is almost always decided in the closing few holes. The field is not quite as strong as THE PLAYERS last week, but with a full field of 133 players teeing it up, there are plenty of strong options on the board. Ryo Hisatsune Top 20
Last year, Hisatsune posted seven top-20 finishes while making 20 of 30 cuts on the PGA TOUR. He finished T-4 at the Valspar during that run with a 71-66-71-68. The 23-year-old has been even more locked in so far this season, with four top-20 finishes in his last six tournaments. He posted a top 20 in more difficult fields at Pebble Beach and TPC Sawgrass over his last four events.
In his last 20 rounds, Hisatsune ranks sixth in the field in Total Strokes Gained and third in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green. He also ranks in the top 10 in the field in Strokes Gained: Approach over that span and has gained strokes everywhere but on the green. His consistent shot-making over the last few weeks makes him a great pick to finish in the top 20 at Innisbrook, and he should be high on the leaderboard coming down the stretch on Sunday.
Taylor Moore Top 40
Moore won the Valspar Championship in 2023 and followed that up with a T-12 in 2024. He missed the cut last year at Copperhead, but he’s off to a stronger start to the season and has a good chance to post a top-40 this week. Moore finished runner-up at the Cognizant Classic at PGA National at the end of February, and then he made the cut at both Bay Hill and THE PLAYERS, finishing T-44 and T-50, respectively.
At a course where he has had success and in a field that isn’t quite as strong, he should climb into the top 40. In the last three months, he ranks 12th in both Strokes Gained: Around-the-Green and Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee. His approach game has been inconsistent, but maybe a return to Innisbrook can help him turn his iron play around. Even if not, though, he has a solid chance to post at least a top 40 if he can make the cut for a sixth straight touranment to start the year.
Jacob Bridgeman over Justin Thomas (3 Way)
I highlighted Bridgeman as one of my top pivot plays of the week since he has been so strong to start the season and also has a great history at this course. Bridgeman has four top-10 finishes and seven top-20s this year, and he finished third at this track last season.
Thomas also has an outstanding history at Innisbrook with four top-10 finishes in his eight trips to Copperhead, including a runner-up finish last year. However, he had a microdiscectomy just a few months ago, and even though he posted a T-8 at THE PLAYERS last week, I’ll take Bridgeman’s consistent excellence over the last few months. Thomas missed the cut with a 79-79 at Bay Hill, so despite last week’s strong showing, I’m more confident that Bridgeman will maintain his form and finish ahead of Thomas, who still may need to work his way back to full speed.
