For the fourth and final event of the Florida swing, the PGA TOUR is hosting the Valpsar Championship at the Copperhead Course (par 71, 7,352 yards, POA Trivialis greens) of the Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor. Since this tournament was added to the annual PGA TOUR schedule in 2000, no other course has hosted the Valspar Championship. Viktor Hovland (-11) won this event last season and for this week, there will be 133 players competing and a top-65 and ties cut after the first two rounds.
Below, I have featured two of my favorite long shot outright bets to win the Valspar Championship on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Bud Cauley (+7400)
Cauley is a Florida native who has played well in his home state the last two weeks. After finishing T18th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, he finished T32nd at THE PLAYERS Championship. Outside of with his putter at TPC Sawgrass last week, Cauley gained strokes in every major category at both these high profile events. The veteran has advanced to the weekend in eight of his last 11 starts and Cauley was right in the mix at last year’s Valspar Championship, finishing T4th, which was one of his four top-six finishes in 2025.
The 36-year-old closed this event with a 5-under 66 at the Copperhead Course, which tied for the lowest score of the final round. Cauley returns to the venue this week 64 spots higher in the world golf rankings and him contending for his first PGA TOUR win is in the realm of possibility.
Luke Clanton (+14500)
Clanton has struggled to begin this season, but he found some life in his game at the Puerto Rico Open two weeks ago. After opening his season with four missed cuts and one withdrawal, Clanton finished T5th at the Grand Reserve Country Club. That one withdrawal for Clanton was due to apparent illness, so maybe his poor to start to the season was due to a lingering sickness and he is now finally starting to feel like himself again.
Clanton rose to No.1 in the world amateur golf rankings in 2022 while in college at Florida State University and he has shown many flashes of brilliance over the last few years, with five top-10 finishes in 31 starts on the PGA TOUR. In 2024, Clanton finished runner-up at both the Wyndham Championship and John Deere Classic.
The 25-year-old made his debut at the Copperhead Course last year and finished a solid T43rd. Growing up in Florida and attending Florida State, Clanton is very used to competing in the Sunshine State, as five of his six amateur wins came in Florida. Clanton should have plenty of friends and family in attendance this week, and looking to build off his strong showing in Puerto Rico, he is worth taking a flier on at this long +14500 price.
