The UEFA Champions League Round of 16 continues as Newcastle will travel to Spain to take on Barcelona on Wednesday.
A late penalty from Lamine Yamal salvaged a 1-1 draw for Barcelona in the first leg at St. James’ Park in what was a thrilling game.

In terms of odds to advance to the quarterfinals, Barcelona are a huge favorite at -340, while Newcastle are listed at +250.

Although I think they will lose the game, Newcastle have scored in every UCL match so far this season and I don’t see why that wouldn’t continue on Wednesday. Barcelona have also conceded in all of their Champions League games, setting the stage for both teams to find the scoresheet in this second leg.
Despite conceding in every game, Barcelona have still won three of their four home games in the competition, and their home record in La Liga is even better as they have won all 14 of their games. Newcastle have traveled well in Europe, winning two, drawing two and losing one of their five away games, but they kept a clean sheet in only one of those matches.
Barcelona are one of the most exciting teams to watch in Europe and should have too much quality for Newcastle. Even so, there are still questions defensively with their high line, which should allow the Magpies to find the net in transition with the pace of Anthony Gordon and Anthony Elanga.
I think this will be a closer encounter than people think, but Barcelona are simply too good at Spotify Camp Nou and they score goals for fun. The Spanish side have already beaten Newcastle in the League Phase this season and drawn them in the first leg. Both of those games were in England, which means Barca’s result should be even better in this match.
