Amy Madigan won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Aunt Gladys in Weapons. It’s her first career Academy Award win. The 75-year-old had previously been nominated in this category for 1986’s Twice in a Lifetime. Despite this being the only nomination for Weapons, Madigan’s villainous character has helped the film become a modern horror standout. The longtime character actor just beat out two dark horses in Taylor and Mosaku for this award. Madigan already took home a Critics’ Choice Award for this performance.
