Which teams are a No. 1 seed in 2026 March Madness?

With the 2026 March Madness bracket being set, let’s look at which teams earned a No. 1 seed in this year’s bracket. Below, I break down the four teams that will be a No. 1 seed in the East, West, South, and Midwest. The 2026 March Madness tournament begins on March 17 with the First Four, followed by the Round of 64 starting on March 19.

Duke (East)

By no surprise, the Duke Blue Devils are the No. 1 seed in the East and the top overall team in this year’s bracket. Duke enters March Madness with a 32-2 record and an 11-game winning streak, with its most recent win coming against Virginia in the ACC Tournament Championship. The Blue Devils are led by star freshman Cameron Boozer, who averages 2.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per contest. Duke is facing Siena in a first-round matchup on Thursday, March 19.

Arizona (West)

Arizona is the No. 1 seed in the West region after beating Houston on Saturday to win the Big 12 Tournament Champiosnhip. The Wildcats also have a 32-2 record and are currently on a nine-game winning streak. Arizona has beaten six top-25 opponents in its last nine games and has put together an incredible resume this season. The Wildcats have displayed an incredibly deep rotation with Big 12 player of the year Jaden Bradley and freshman duo Koa Peat and Brayden Burries leading the way. Arizona is set to play Long Island in its first matchup in this tournament.

Michigan (Midwest)

Earlier today, the Michigan Wolverines lost to the Purdue Boilermakers in the Big Ten Tournament Championship. But even though they’re coming off a loss, Michigan still earned a No. 1 seed in the March Madness bracket after going 31-3 this season. Yaxel Lendeborg (14.4 PPG) and Morez Johnson Jr. (13.3 PPG) have been their two best players this season. Michigan will face the winner of UNBC vs. Howard, who is playing in the First Four.

Florida (South)

Although the reigning National Champions, the Florida Gators, lost to Vanderbilt in the SEC Tournament Semifinals, they still have secured a No. 1 seed. Before coming up short on Saturday, the Gators won 12 consecutive games and 17 of 18. Two returnees, Thomas Haugh and Alex Condon, have been Florida’s top two scorers this season. Florida is playing the winner of Prairie View A&M vs. Lehigh in the Round of 64.
