The Louisville Cardinals landed a six seed in the East Region of the bracket, and they’ll face off against the eleven-seed South Florida Bulls.

Louisville vs. South Florida opening odds

The Bulls kicked the American’s door in, won the conference tournament on Sunday, and secured their first NCAA berth since 2012 by flattening Wichita State 70-55 in the title game. They arrive here 25-8, riding a 10-game heater, carrying the kind of profile that blares upset through the walls. South Florida is scoring 88.3 points per game, winning the glass by 5.2 rebounds a night, forcing 14.3 turnovers, and turning that chaos into 19.4 points off turnovers. Bryan Hodgson’s group plays like it is trying to crowd the game out of its own oxygen. It rebounds with appetite, runs off every loose seam, floods passing lanes, and keeps manufacturing extra possessions until the floor starts to feel tilted.

Louisville, though, is the reason this game feels like an actual collision instead of a sentimental bracket prompt. The Cardinals went 23-10, finished sixth in the ACC, and still carry the sturdier high-major silhouette: 84.7 points per game, 47.0% shooting from the field, 35.7% from three, 38.5 rebounds a night, and a plus-13 scoring margin. Ryan Conwell scores 18.7 per game, Mikel Brown Jr. adds 18.2, J’Vonne Hadley is finishing at 57.3% from the floor, and Sananda Fru supplies the interior resistance with 9.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 47 blocks. That is the first-round argument in full: South Florida wants to turn the game into weather, Louisville wants to answer with cleaner offense and bigger-conference mass, and that friction is exactly what makes the opening round feel alive.
