Tottenham are in a world of trouble. They have one foot out of the door in the Champions League after losing 5-2 to Atlético Madrid in the first leg of the Round of 16. That, however, is the least of their concerns. They are in the midst of a relegation battle with the likes of Leeds, Nottingham Forest and West Ham. One of those teams are likely to go down in 18th position, and Tottenham need to start putting some points on the board to ensure that it’s not them.
Liverpool, on the other hand, are in a race with the likes of Aston Villa, Man United and Chelsea to finish in the top five and qualify for next season’s Champions League. Finishing in those positions is hugely important for the finances of the club as well as success on the pitch. It’s a tight race at the moment, and three points from the Reds will keep them right in the mix.
Liverpool should win this one comfortably against a Spurs side who have lost six straight games in all competitions. Three or more goals were scored in four of those games, and Tottenham alone have allowed three or more goals in three of those games. Liverpool have won four of their last five at Anfield in all comps, and they should make it five of six on Sunday. They have had recent success against Tottenham as well, winning four of the last five matchups between the teams. The Reds scored 17 combined goals in those four victories.
Expect a comfortable win for Liverpool against a Tottenham team in disarray.
