Donovan Clingan Double-Double, Yes (-145): Donovan Clingan might not be the most skilled big man in the NBA, but goodness can he rebound. In fact, coming into Friday’s action, Clingan leads the league in total rebounding rate (22.8%) and offensive rebounds (277). That last stat is extra important when you’re viewing Clingan through the lens of this prop. This isn’t just a rebounding bet. To register a double-double, the sophomore needs to actually score, and for his career, he’s averaging only 9.0 points per game. However, Clingan’s specific ability to grab offensive rebounds at least puts him in an advantageous position for some second chance points. That’s the key here. The past five times Clingan’s managed double-digit points, he’s also posted a double-double. A great matchup with the lowly Jazz helps, too.
Jalen Duren Double-Double, Yes (-141): First and foremost, I should mention that Duren is technically listed as questionable for tonight’s game with a knee injury. Still, that hasn’t stopped the public from backing his double-double prop with glee. For the season as a whole, the All-Star center is averaging 18.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per contest. Duren also has 32 double-doubles in his 55 starts, though he has failed to accomplish the feat in three of his past five games. However, a matchup with Memphis seems like a great way to get back on track. The Grizzlies are getting Cedric Coward back on Friday, yet the team remains incredibly undersized due to injury. In March, Memphis ranks 27th in defensive rating (121.5) and 29th in rebounding rate (45.5%). Woof.
Evan Mobley Double-Double, Yes (-104): While Evan Mobley is undoubtedly the biggest name among these three double-double prop candidates, he’s also the one that’s not a natural center. However, with Jarrett Allen in line to miss his fourth straight game on Friday evening, Mobley will slide over once again in the Cavaliers’ starting five and take on additional rebounding responsibilities. Mobley managed an 18-point, 13-rebound double-double in Wednesday’s loss to Orlando — his 20th of the season. Still, Mobley was unable to grab 10 boards in the other two games that his teammate had recently missed, so nothing a guarantee. A matchup with the Mavericks is probably catching bettors’ eyes, as well, particularly with Daniel Gafford (ankle) listed as doubtful to play. Mobley should eat.
