Cal State Fullerton Titans vs. UC Davis Aggies prediction, pick for Big West Tournament on Thursday 3/12/26

UC Davis and Cal State Fullerton get to Henderson with almost no real separation on the standings page, but the path into this game is not the same. The Aggies are 19-13 after beating UC Santa Barbara 79-73 on Wednesday night. The Titans are 17-15, finished 12-8 in league play, earned the higher seed, and came in off a bye after closing the regular season with wins over UC San Diego and CSUN. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for tonight’s college basketball game between the Cal State Fullerton Titans and the UC Davis Aggies.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Cal State Fullerton vs. UC Davis prediction, preview

Over the last three games, TeamRankings has Fullerton at 83.3 points, 55.2% effective field goal shooting, 20.0 assists, and only 9.0 turnovers per game. Davis over that same span sits at 74.7 points, 48.9% eFG, 13.3 assists, and 11.7 turnovers. The Aggies still own the cleaner season-long defensive floor, allowing 75.8 points per game with a 52.1% opponent eFG, and they still get to the line more often with a 0.408 FTA/FGA rate against Fullerton’s 0.373. But the current version of this matchup is asking whether Davis can keep solving offense on tired legs, not whether its season-long profile was more stable in January.

Davis does have some tournament-ready guards. Marcus Wilson (G) has become the Aggies’ biggest pressure-release valve late in the year. He dropped 30 in the overtime win at Long Beach State, then followed with 17 points, four assists, and three steals against UCSB. Carl Daughtery Jr. (G) just gave Davis 24 points and eight rebounds in the opener, and Connor Sevilla (G) remains the roster’s cleanest closer at 13.0 points per game, 40.0% from three, and 90.7% at the line. Niko Rocak (F) is the other stabilizer, averaging 9.6 points and 5.2 rebounds, and his 13-board, four-block night at Long Beach is exactly the kind of interior work Davis needs again if this becomes another survival game.

Fullerton’s answer is depth and late scoring volume. Joshua Ward (G) leads the team with 14.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game, then just posted 20 in the comeback win over UC San Diego. Jefferson De La Cruz Monegro (G) brings another ballhandler and a huge late-game free-throw weapon at 89.1% from the line, and he went for 14 points, eight rebounds, and five assists in that same UCSD win. Christian Williams (G) is the swing scorer, averaging 9.0 points with 37.2% shooting from three and 1.9 steals, then exploding for 23 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals at CSUN. Jaden Henderson (G) added 12 against UCSD, KJ Garris (G) averages 8.3 points while shooting 44.4% from deep, and Fullerton’s bench dropped 47 points in the 90-77 win at CSUN. That is a real tournament-readiness signal. The Titans erased a deficit against UCSD, then closed the regular season on a 15-0 run at CSUN.

UC Davis vs. Cal State Fullerton pick, best bet

Davis won the January meeting 74-69 by turning it into a rebounding-and-control game, finishing plus-11 on the glass. Fullerton won the February meeting 93-92 by shooting 62% from the field, scoring 57 after halftime, and surviving a beautiful Davis offensive game. The useful lesson is not that the first meeting said one team owns the matchup. It is that Davis can absolutely make this game physical and manageable, while Fullerton has the fresher, deeper shotmaking tree if the game opens up. With Davis now on a back-to-back after Wednesday’s opener and with overtime games against Long Beach State and UC Irvine already piled into the past week, the fatigue tax is part of the story whether we want it to be or not.

I land on Cal State Fullerton -1.5. This is not a trust-the-defense bet, because the Titans have allowed 82.2 points per game and can absolutely make life harder than it has to be. It is a current-version, tournament-shape bet. Fullerton has more live creators, more bench scoring, the rest edge, and better recent ball movement. Davis has enough guard shotmaking and foul-line stability to stay live, which is why I prefer the side over the total. The over needs both teams to cooperate. Fullerton -1.5 only needs the deeper, fresher offense to win the last eight minutes. The thing that beats it is simple: Davis turns this into a whistle game, Wilson and Daughtery keep creating, and Sevilla closes every late trip.

My score is Cal State Fullerton 81, UC Davis 77.

Best bet: Cal State Fullerton -1.5 (+100) vs. UC Davis
