Kings vs. Hornets prediction, preview

Charlotte has been playing exceptionally well lately, posting 124.3 OFFRTG and 111.4 DEFRTG in their last 10 games. They’re on a heater, for sure, but there’s a real process here. They’re bombing 48.2 3PA per game and hitting 40.5%. The Hornets are also doing a good job winning the possession battle with 14.9 ORPG and are limiting their opponents to a league low of 48.1 RPG. LaMelo Ball pushes their tempo into early offense while Brandon Miller gives them a steady half court offensive presence. Miller is enjoying a productive season for the Hornets, averaging 20.7 PPG on 43.2% shooting from the field and 37.9% from three. ROTY frontrunner Kon Knueppel has also been having a superb, historic rookie season. Knueppel has been adding depth and range to this Hornets’ offense all season with 19.2 PPG on ridiculous .489/.438/.871 splits.

The Kings have been a much sadder story this season, and their litany of injuries has further complicated matters for this team. Their poor performance on both sides of the ball has exacerbated things as well, with a putrid 119.7 DEFRTG (28th) and 109.7 OFFRTG (27th). They’re also not doing a good job of playing a modern game, shooting only 27.9 3PA in their last 10 games and hitting 29% of them. They’ve also been unable to field consistent lineups this season, with Zach LaVine and Sabonis weaving in and out of the rotation due to injury issues. The Kings have, at least, won two games in a row against the Pacers and Bulls.

Kings vs. Hornets pick, best bet

Best Bet: Charlotte Hornets -12.5 (-110)

The Hornets have looked fantastic lately, while the Kings are on the other side of the spectrum. With Charlotte angling for a playoff spot in the East, they’ll be going hard tonight to try to secure this must-win so that they can close the gap between them and the ninth seeded Hawks, who are 34-31.
