For the third of four straight events in Florida, THE PLAYERS Championship will be played at TPC Sawgrass (par 72, 7,352 yards, POA trivialis greens) in Ponte Vedra Beach. This has been the host of THE PLAYERS Championship since 1982 and Rory McIlroy (-12) is the defending champion. This event features a season-high $25 million purse, 123 golfers and a top-65 and ties cut after the first two rounds.
Below, I have featured two of my favorite long shot outright bets to win THE PLAYERS Championship on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Sahith Theegala (+8800)
Theegala has advanced to the weekend at each of the last three PLAYERS Championships, including a T-9 two years ago. In his last eight rounds at TPC Sawgrass, Theegala has recorded three 5-under 67s, which is impressive at this challenging venue. The 28-year-old moved to Florida last year and returns to TPC Sawgrass this week playing great golf. After a disappointing campaign in 2025, Theegala needed to have a rebound season in 2026 to ensure full-time PGA TOUR status for 2027, and he is doing exactly that.
Theegala is a perfect 7-for-7 in made cuts this season and he has finished inside the top-eight three times. Theegala’s best result came just last week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, when he finished T-6 at Bay Hill, including a closing round 6-under 66, which was the lowest score of the final round. Theegala has shot under par in 23 of his 28 rounds and he ranks 22nd in total strokes gained this season. Theegala was a top-12 ranked player in the world less than two years ago and him claiming his second PGA TOUR win this week isn’t that far-fetched.
Lucas Glover (+23000)
At these crazy, long odds, Glover is worth a sprinkle. The former U.S. Open champion has been inconsistent at TPC Sawgrass, missing 10-of-17 cuts at the course, but Glover has finished inside the top-six three times at the par 72, including a T-3 just last season. The veteran opened this start with a 6-under 66 and was the leader after the first round. Leading up to this finish, Glover posted a T-36 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational the week prior. This time around, he heads to TPC Sawgrass following a T-24 finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last week.
After shooting 1-over 73s in each of the first two rounds and making the cut on the number, Glover closed the event with back-to-back 2-under 70s. The 46-year-old gained strokes on approach at Bay Hill and maybe he found something in his game that he can carry over to TPC Sawgrass. Glover has won six times on the PGA TOUR and he is less than three years removed from winning back-to-back events in the summer of 2023.
