Power 4 + Big East Championships
UConn routed Villanova 90-51 in the Big East final, shocking no one. The Huskies are steamrolling toward another dominant season and possibly a 13th NCAA title at -270 on DraftKings Sportsbook, with Geno Auriemma’s group perched on the throne until someone proves otherwise. The scary part? Even after losing reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year Paige Bueckers, this roster might be stronger. Sarah Strong is averaging 18.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, with Azzi Fudd right behind at 17.7 PPG.
The best bet to challenge UConn is UCLA at +600 to win the title. The Bruins rolled Iowa in the Big Ten championship for their second straight conference crown, flashing depth with six players in double figures, led by Gianna Kneepkens’ 19 points. UCLA’s 18 Quad 1 wins and brutal schedule impress, but UConn’s undefeated résumé likely secures the overall No. 1 seed. We’ll find out Sunday.
In the SEC, Texas upset No. 3 South Carolina 78-61 to win its first conference tournament title. Madison Booker dropped 18 points, earned MVP honors, and is averaging 18.9 PPG and 6.5 RPG while shooting 51.6% from the field. South Carolina isn’t going anywhere, though, it just keeps running into Texas. The Gamecocks have lost to the Longhorns three times in two seasons but are 32-1 against the rest of the SEC.
In the ACC, Duke beat Louisville 70-65 in overtime to claim its second straight tournament title. Taina Mair posted a 19-point, 12-rebound double-double, and Delaney Thomas added 19. The Blue Devils sit at +7500 to win the championship and bring momentum with them, heading into March Madness having won 21 of their last 23.
How has Champ Week affected seeding?
With five days until Selection Sunday, conference champs can relax while bubble teams cannot. Tennessee sits at 16-13 and should get in with five Quad 1 wins, but the Lady Vols are flirting with Cinderella territory. Arizona State did help its case with two Big 12 tournament wins and a strong quarterfinal showing against champion West Virginia, but the Sun Devils lack a Quad 1 win — they do look sturdier than fellow bubble teams like Iowa State, USC, Colorado, Clemson, and Virginia.
