Wake Forest vs. Virginia Tech College Basketball prediction, preview

Wake Forest enters the ACC Tournament losing three of its last five, which started with a blowout loss to this Virginia Tech team. The Hokies have inexplicably been tremendous away from home, going 11-3 ATS in road/neutral games.

The Demon Deacons have been rather predictable most of the season, winning 14 of 17 when priced as the favorite, but going just 2-12 as the underdog. Virginia Tech has shown much more fight against stronger competition, and also wins the games it’s supposed to. The Hokies are 14-2 in games they are priced as the favorite.

Neither team rebounds the ball well, although VT does hold a slight advantage there. Both teams are also pretty similar on the offensive end, but the defensive side of the ball offers the Hokies another edge. Virginia Tech ranks 62nd in defensive efficiency on KenPom, while Wake is just 97th by the same metrics.

I think we see the trend of the Hokies continuing to perform well as the slight favorite here continue. With the spread coming down a bit off the opening, we can back Virginia Tech to knock off the Demon Deacons at a short moneyline price.

CBB Pick: Virginia Tech ML (-135)
