According to Ibou of the Self Made Sessions podcast, Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman have made their stance clear regarding his booking.
“Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman essentially have communicated to WWE and WWE Creative that Brock should not job until his retirement. So that presents WWE with a unique issue because Hunter would like to book at some point Gunther vs. Brock and Oba vs. Brock. But if he books those matches, Brock will lose in both matches. So this presents everybody with a conundrum.”
If accurate, the report suggests Brock Lesnar does not want to take another loss before his WWE retirement match, creating a potential clash between long-term creative plans and protecting one of WWE’s biggest stars.

One of the biggest issues with John Cena’s retirement tour was that he entered it on a steady stream of losses. Dating back to 2019, Cena transitioned into a special attraction rather than a full-time performer. Some defeats made sense in the moment. The Fiend in the Firefly Fun House and Roman Reigns at SummerSlam 2021 both served larger creative purposes. Others stood out for the wrong reasons.

Brock Lesnar should feel special when he finally loses. The mistake would be letting that moment lose its impact before it ever arrives, and it make sense to do it when the time is right, which this isn’t.
