After spending his first 12 years of his NFL career with the Buccaneers, Mike Evans is taking his talents to the 49ers on a three-year deal worth up to $60.4 million, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Despite playing with numerous quarterbacks throughout his career, Evans has consistently been one of the NFL’s most reliable receivers. He topped 1,000 yards in each season until the streak was snapped in an injury-shortened 2025 campaign.
Evans played in just eight games due to a broken collarbone and a concussion. He recorded only 30 catches for 368 yards and three touchdowns. The 32-year-old also averaged 12.3 yards per reception and a 48.4% catch rate — also career lows. For fantasy, Evans finished 28th in FPTS per snap among receivers (0.25).
While injuries played a role in Evans’ limited production last season, there is certainly concern that his age and veteran experience are starting to catch up with him. Still, Evans will be playing with a strong quarterback in San Francisco’s Brock Purdy, who averaged 7.5 yards per pass last season. Evans should handle a notable target share with his new team, as George Kittle will miss significant time after tearing his Achilles in January.
If Evans can stay healthy, adding another 1,000-yard season to his resume is within the realm of possibility. However, that feels like a massive “if ” for the 32-year-old vet. Evans will likely be a popular third- or fourth-round draft pick for fantasy football this summer, but taking a chance on him that early feels risky.
