Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Southampton, Port Vale and Leeds have already booked their spots in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. There is one spot remaining, and it will be filled by either West Ham or Brentford.
Based on the recent meetings between these sides, I like Brentford to get the win on Monday and advance to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. The Bees have already visited the London Stadium earlier this season in the Premier League, coming away 2-0 victors back in October. Brentford have won on their last two trips away to West Ham and have won four of the last six Premier League matchups between the teams, drawing one and losing one.
The Bees are also much higher than the Hammers in the Premier League table for a reason. Brentford are in seventh, while West Ham are 16 points behind them in 18th position and fighting for their lives against relegation. The Hammers are a dangerous opposition at this point in the season due to their desperation to survive, but not in the FA Cup. I’m sure they would love to advance in this competition, but the reality is that their survival is much more important. For Brentford, a good draw in the next few rounds could easily see them at Wembley for a final.
Brentford are the better team both on paper and on the pitch, and I expect them to get their third consecutive win at West Ham’s stadium.
