Team USA begins its quest for World Baseball Classic glory with a Pool B matchup against Brazil at Daikin Park in Houston, TX, on Friday night. First pitch is at 8:00 p.m. ET, and Team USA is heavily favored at -6000 on the Moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook. Without much value on the Moneyline, one way to attack the matchup is by finding a few player prop bets that are strong plays in the contest.
DraftKings Sportsbook has some batter and pitcher props available for this Group Play game, so let’s take a look at my top three best bets for this WBC matchup Friday night.
USA at Brazil Prop Bets for 3/6/26
Bobby Witt Jr. 2+ Hits (-140)
Witt hasn’t hit leadoff in a regular-season game for the Royals since June 30, 2023, but he’s expected to hit leadoff for Team USA in this tournament. He should get plenty of at-bats in this matchup, and he is expected to serve as the team’s spark plug at the top of the order.
Witt went 6-for-15 (.400) in his six spring training games before leaving the Royals, and he picked up a pair of hits out of the leadoff spot in USA’s exhibition win over the Giants on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, manager Mark DeRosa swapped several players around, but Witt stayed in the leadoff post. He went 0-for-3 but should be ready to bounce back in this matchup against Brazil.
The huge underdogs from Brazil will struggle to keep the Team USA Juggernaut in check, especially without a lot of depth behind starter Bo Takahashi. Takahashi has been a pro for parts of seven years, most recently pitching 89 innings in Triple-A for the Louisville Bats in 2021. He has been in Japan pitching for the Saitama Seibu Lions for the past four seasons but only totaled five innings in 2025 with a 10.80 ERA. He has worked mostly as a reliever, except for nine starts in 2024.
Takahashi isn’t likely to last a long time, and the stacked lineup for Team USA should crank out runs, with Witt leading the way from the top of the order.
Roman Anthony 1+ HR (+360)
The main sluggers in the Team USA lineup have very short odds, and my colleague, Garion Thorne, already highlighted one of them in his top HR props of the day. Rather than one of those short odds plays, I’m ready to swing for the fences with Roman Anthony.
Anthony was added to Team USA after Corbin Carroll’s injury, and the 21-year-old announced his arrival in style on Tuesday:
Anthony had eight homers in 71 games in the majors last year after crushing 10 homers in 58 games in Triple-A. Since he’ll be facing pitchers lower than that level for the most part, he should be ready to crush plenty of homers in Group Play.
Anthony’s home run props are juicy enough to bring value for this matchup on Friday.
Brazil: Team Total Runs – 1st 3 Innings u0.5 (-140)
Since the pitching props available are limited, let’s actually turn to the team total props for the third of my WBC Best Bets for this Friday. While the over/under on Logan Webb’s strikeouts feels a little too aggressive with his pitch limit, and the Team USA bullpen is stuffed with great options as well, I’ll just take Team Brazil to not get a run in the first three innings.
It’s not a “safe” prop since just one mistake or bad bounce could lead to a Brazil run, but ultimately, I think Webb and Team USA will be out to dominate this game from the start, and they won’t give up much to Brazil’s lineup.
Brazil’s best bat is probably Dante Bichette Jr. (Bo Bichette’s younger brother) or Lucas Ramirez, who was recently drafted and signed by the Angels. They don’t have a lot of experience, though, so a vet like Webb should be able to keep them quiet for the first three innings.
