Best NHL props for Wednesday 3/4/26
Alex DeBrincat Anytime Goalscorer (+150)
DeBrincat has scored at least one goal in five of the Red Wings’ last six home games. The 28-year-old leads Detroit in goals (31) and gets to face a tired Vegas team that lost in Buffalo last night. Among skaters with 200+ minutes of ice time, DeBrincat ranks 10th in goals per 60 and eighth in xGoals per 60. It certainly makes scoring goals rather easy when one shoots the puck as much as DeBrincat does, as he ranks fourth in shots per 60 and third in shot attempts per 60. Vegas doesn’t allow a ton of shots, but Adin Hill is likely to start, and he’s been one of the worst goaltenders in the NHL, ranking 87th in goals saved above expected, along with a 3.47 GAA and .858 SV%.
Timo Meier OVER 3.5 Shots on Goal (-115)
Meier has totaled 20 shots on goal across four games since returning from the break. He cleared 4+ SOG in three of those games, and he draws an elite matchup against the Maple Leafs tonight. Toronto leads the league in shots allowed per game (31.8), while New Jersey ranks sixth in shots per game (28.6). Among skaters with 200+ minutes of ice time, Meier ranks 12th in 5v5 shots per 60 and third in 5v5 shot attempts per 60. That is good news considering Toronto leads the league in total 5v5 shots against by a wide margin.
Mathew Barzal OVER 0.5 Assist (-115)
Barzal has recorded at least one assist in each of the past three games and in 16/30 (52%) road outings this season. Tonight, he’ll face a Ducks team that lost to the Avalanche last night and ranks second in the NHL in goals against per 60. While the Islanders don’t necessarily light up the scoreboard consistently, they enter tonight’s matchup riding a five-game winning streak. Barzal is New York’s primary playmaker, and Anaheim’s best goaltender, Lukas Dostal, played last night, so the club will likely start Ville Husso, who is 6-5-1 with a 3.26 GAA and .882 SV%. Among 92 eligible goaltenders, Husso ranks 75th in goals saved above expected and 72nd in SV% above expected.
