Right before halftime of Tuesday’s game against the Spurs, VJ Edgecombe was fouled hard on a three-point attempt by Carter Bryant. Edgecombe immediately started holding his back while writhing on the floor in pain. He has since been ruled out for the remainder of the contest.
Before exiting, he played 20 minutes. He contributed six points, four rebounds and an assist in that time. Cameron Payne started the second half in his absence. Unfortunately for Edgecombe, it’s a quick turnaround for Philadelphia as they host the Jazz on Wednesday on the second leg of a back-to-back. Then Philly will have two days off before they face Atlanta on Saturday. Hopefully this back issue isn’t too serious for the rookie and he’s back on the court in no time.
