In the blink of an eye, we’ve arrived at the penultimate night of Unrivaled’s sophomore season. Just four teams remain, and Monday, March 2 brings a semifinal slate that should deliver the kind of competitive chaos this league does best, all leading to the Championship game on Wednesday, March 4.
The No. 1 seed Phantom square off with the No. 6 Vinyl, while the No. 5 Breeze take on the No. 2 Mist. Let’s get into my predictions and picks for tonight’s high-stakes matchups.
Phantom vs. Vinyl Prediction
Let’s rewind to the first round, where the No. 6 seed Vinyl pulled off the upset over the No. 3 Laces, 82–69, behind dominant performances from Rhyne Howard and Dearica Hamby. Howard stuffed the stat sheet in 19.9 minutes, pouring in 30 points and knocking down six threes. Hamby was just as lethal, dropping 25 points on a ridiculous 11-of-14 shooting. Both head into tonight’s matchup with the Phantom in seriously daunting form.
The Phantom earned the No. 1 seed after an impressive 11–3 regular season, but they’ll be without 2026 Unrivaled Defensive Player of the Year Aliyah Boston, who suffered a lower-extremity injury in Friday’s 72–68 win over Rose BC. That’s a massive loss on both ends of the floor: Boston averaged 17.6 PPG in the regular season and anchored the defense. Still, this Phantom roster has top-end scoring and enough depth to keep things competitive.
Kelsey Plum averaged 18.6 PPG (3rd) and closed the regular season on a heater, putting up 25.2 PPG over her last four games, including a 35-point explosion in her most recent outing. Aziaha James, assigned to the Phantom amid their injury shuffle, only appeared in three games this season but dropped 23 points in her last performance. She’ll need to step up in a major way to help fill the Boston-sized void in this win-or-go-home spot.
With an O/U of 140.5 on DraftKings Sportsbook, the first semifinal of tonight’s doubleheader should bring plenty of firepower. If the Phantom can take care of the ball and get not just scoring from Plum but strong facilitation from Natasha Cloud, they’ll have a real shot at punching their ticket to Wednesday’s Finals.
But the Vinyl, sitting as 1.5-point underdogs, are walking in with momentum and opportunity. Without Boston anchoring the paint, the defensive edge shifts. With Howard and Hamby coming off that electric first-round duo performance, I’m leaning toward riding the momentum tonight.

Breeze vs. Mist Prediction
The Breeze have pulled off one of the best surprises of the postseason, reaching the semifinals after finishing the regular season under .500 — and doing it by knocking off the reigning champion No. 4 Rose, 69–50, in the first round. Paige Bueckers led the way with 29 points, while Dominique Malonga was a force inside, posting a 14-point, 17-rebound double-double.
Yes, the Breeze only won six games in the regular season. But the underlying numbers show why this team is dangerous. They led the league in rebounds per game (34.9) and were middle of the pack in scoring at 70.6 PPG, meaning they can get buckets and crash the glass with the best of them. Bueckers, as expected, paced the squad with 22.1 PPG during the regular season, followed by Malonga at 16.4 PPG and Rickea Johnson at 14.9 PPG. And this group isn’t just top-heavy. Cameron Brink added 10.9 PPG, and Courtney Williams chipped in 9.5 PPG, giving the Breeze legitimate depth.
The Mist, though, are a different kind of test. Led by Allisha Gray and Breanna Stewart, they earned the No. 2 seed with just four losses and led the league in scoring at 77.7 PPG (by more than four points per game over the next closest team). They also averaged 34.8 rebounds per contest, just a tenth of a board behind the league-leading Breeze.
While the Breeze bring rising stars, the Mist counter with seasoned vets who know exactly what these moments require. Gray is coming off back-to-back 25+ point performances, and Stewie has been as steady as ever — scoring 24+ in each of her last three and 20+ in four of her last five.
There’s undeniable talent on both sides tonight. But in a semifinal setting, I can’t help but lean toward experience and consistency.
