Joey Daccord over 27.5 saves (-110)
The Hurricanes have won both of their games since the season resumed after the Olympic break, scoring a combined 10 goals across those two outings. The offense seems to have shaken off some of its finishing issues, at least momentarily, but it now faces a Kraken group that ranks 10th in goals allowed per game. Here’s the deal.
Joey Daccord is between the pipes for Seattle tonight. The 29-year-old hasn’t been stellar, but he’s played serviceable hockey this season overall. A 2.79 GAA is certainly lacking, but a .904 SV% does rank 24th among the 71 goalies to play at least 10 games so far. This prop bet isn’t necessarily about his own abilities, but rather the state of both the Canes’ offense and the Kraken’s own blue line. Seattle allows 29.3 shot attempts per game, ninth-most in the NHL. Meanwhile, Carolina averages 32.0 attempts per outing. What does that mean? Well, high volume appears likely tonight, setting up Daccord to go over this line of 27.5 saves. Even if he lets a a few pucks through, he should see enough chances that this bet cashes. Plus, he went over his saves line in each of his two games since the Olympic break with 28 and 27 in those matchups.
Miro Heiskanen 1+ assist (-125)
Tonight, the Stars can break their franchise record for longest winning streak with a ninth straight victory. Against a very weak Canucks roster, the environment is right for this unit to capitalize and make team history. Granted, Dallas is dealing with some injuries to key players with star Mikko Rantanen and top-six forward Roope Hintz both sidelined as well. Their absences do mean less firepower for the attack, but it opens up opportunities for others to shine.
Stud defenseman Miro Heiskanen is fourth on the roster with 48 points in his 57 games, tying him for seventh-most among all players at his position across the league. While not a standout goalscorer this season, his 41 assists are also the second-most of any Stars skater and sixth-most among all NHL defensemen. He’s also on a five-game point streak with seven assists across this span, and Dallas could keep leaning on him plenty for more offensive contributions than usual given the notable absences at the top of the forward lines. Vancouver allows a league-worst 3.66 goals per game this season with just a 70.9% mark on the penalty kill, also worst in the NHL. With Heiskanen leading his team in TOI at 25:38 and garnering an average of 3:45 in PP TOI, the stars are aligned for at least one apple in tonight’s positive matchup.
