Matchweek 28 of the Premier League has arrived as Chelsea travel to take on Arsenal in what is the biggest game of this weekend’s slate.

For the fourth time already this season, London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea will clash. The Gunners have won two of the first three meetings, drawing one. Arsenal have dominated this fixture for the last few years, as they haven’t lost to Chelsea in any competition since 2021. In the 10 games since, Arsenal have won seven and drawn three. All three of those draws have come at Stamford Bridge.
After a few disappointing results recently against Brentford and Wolves, the Gunners bounced back in style last weekend in the North London Derby with a 4-1 away victory against Tottenham. Viktor Gyokeres had arguably his best game in a red shirt, scoring twice while also providing stellar all-around play. Arsenal have lacked free-flowing attacking football at times this season, but that was certainly not the case last time out. If they can carry on that form into this game, Chelsea are in trouble.
The Blues have been struggling recently, drawing back-to-back home games in the league against Leeds and Burnley. Liam Rosenior has had an up and down time at Chelsea so far, with his two Carabao Cup losses to Arsenal being the only defeats the Blues have suffered in his tenure. Despite that, Chelsea are still very much in jeopardy of missing out on next season’s Champions League. They currently sit in fifth position, only ahead of sixth-placed Liverpool on goal difference.
Arsenal know they can’t afford too many slip-ups down the stretch with Man City breathing down their necks. I expect the Gunners to find a way to win this one in a closely contested contest.
