For the Reds, three points for them is critical in their race for Champions League qualification. We should be set for an entertaining game in which both teams go for the win.
I am giving the edge to Liverpool, however, because the Reds have picked up a bit of form recently and they have dominated this fixture in recent seasons.
Since losing 2-1 to Man City earlier this month, Liverpool have won three straight games in all competitions against Sunderland, Brighton and Nottingham Forest without conceding a goal. Three or more goals have been scored in each of Liverpool’s last four games in all competitions at Anfield.
Now they face a West Ham side that have allowed the third-most goals in the league so far this season. Liverpool have won four of the last five games between these teams in all competitions, with one draw. In four of those games, three or more total goals were scored.
I can envision West Ham putting up a good fight and making this interesting, but I think Liverpool will edge it. Expect goals to be scored in the process.
