Washington State vs. Loyola Marymount College Basketball prediction, preview
Loyola Marymount hasn’t been the most impressive team so far this season, but the Lions seem to have turned a corner a bit in February. After a six-game losing streak, ULM is 3-2 this month, including an impressive upset win over San Francisco. The Lions are playing well at home recently, going 6-3 ATS over their last nine at Gersten Pavilion.
Then there’s Washington State, which is just 2-9 on the road this season, and has dropped six straight away from home. These teams rank very similar overall on KenPom, but have strengths on opposite ends of the floor. Wazzu has the better offense, but can struggle on the road against superior defenses like ULM. Meanwhile, Washington State is one of the worst defensive teams in the country, and I expect the Lions to be able to find some success in a big night game at home on national television.
As KenPom suggests, with Loyola Marymount projected to win by a point, I feel the wrong team is favored here, and will back the short underdog.
