Miami vs. Florida State College Basketball prediction, preview
At first glance, this line seems a little short to Miami. Then you dig in a little more and realize just how well Florida State has been playing following an awful start to the season. Entering January 20th, the Seminoles were just 7-11 on the season, with rock bottom coming in a loss to UMass. FSU had lost its first five games in ACC play and seemed hopeless.
On January 20th, Florida State went on the road to Miami and got its first ACC win as an 11-point underdog. The win sparked a streak that has seen FSU win seven of its last nine games and move to a solid 7-7 in conference play. While I don’t want to overlook how well the Seminoles are playing right now, the spot sets up very well to sell high on this team.
Aside from the win over Miami, FSU got its next best win of the season on Saturday afternoon, going to Clemson and winning as an 8.5-point dog. Meanwhile, Miami took a close loss at Virginia in a game the Hurricanes covered, but came up just short. Now Miami is not only in a bounce-back spot off a loss, but looking for some revenge off last month’s loss to an in-state rival.
Miami has been terrific on the road this season, at 6-2 straight up and against the spread. The Hurricanes are also 17-2 as the favorite this season, with their worst loss coming against this very team. There will be no overlooking FSU this time around. Miami is the better team on both sides of the ball and should be playing with a motivational edge in this one. Give me the Canes to pull away as the short road favorite.
