What happened to Jaxson Hayes? Live injury updates for Celtics vs. Lakers on Sunday 2/22/26

With 1:55 left in the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Boston Celtics, Jaxson Hayes was replaced by Jarred Vanderbilt. Hayes suffered an ankle injury and has now been ruled out for the rest of the game.

There’s been no mention of how or when the injury occurred.

Prior to exiting, Hayes contributed two points and a rebound in five minutes off the bench. Deandre Ayton will likely handle as many of the center minutes as possible while Vanderbilt and Rui Hachimura could slot in and play some small-ball center.

Since Hayes was ruled out before the start of the third quarter, he will be eligible for DraftKings Early Exit.

Stan joined DraftKings in December of 2020. It was a glorious time, except for that whole COVID thing, when we got Madden streams and boisterous bat flips from the KBO. I was brought on board to bring some West Coast flavor. I especially love hoops, and most of my content is in that arena. When I walk along the beach, strumming my guitar, the beat that I hear is not one of crashing waves. No, it is the beat of the ball bouncing off the hardwood with highs provided by the squeaks of the sneakers. Ball is life.
