Prediction, pick for Zach Reese vs. Michel Pereira at UFC Houston

Middleweights kick off the main card on Saturday night, as Zach Reese meets Michel Pereira at UFC Houston.

Reese (10–2, 5 KOs, 3 SUB) is unbeaten in his last three fights and riding momentum from a second-round submission over Jackson McVey in November. Pereira (31–14, 11 KOs, 9 SUB) has dropped three straight bouts, capped by a first-minute knockout against Kyle Daukaus last August.

Pereira enters as a -155 moneyline favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook, while Reese sits as a +130 underdog. The total is set at 1.5 rounds.

Reese vs. Pereira Preview

Zach Reese

Reese has struggled to fully validate his nickname inside the Octagon. Dubbed “Savage,” the 31-year-old Texas native arrived in the UFC in December 2023, boasting a 100% finish rate — but has since gone 4–2 (with one no contest) with his last three wins coming by decision. He’s also endured a pair of first-round knockouts.

Still, Reese has flashed sound kickboxing and suffocating grappling, bolstered by a towering 6-foot-4 frame and 77-inch reach. Unbeaten in his last three bouts, he’ll look to make a statement in his toughest test yet.

Michel Pereira

With 45 professional bouts under his belt, it’s hard to believe that Michel Pereira is just 32 years old. The 6-foot-1 Brazilian — nicknamed “Demolidor” — has been a mainstay on the UFC roster since May 2019, entering Saturday’s bout with an unrivaled wealth of Octagon experience.

Pereira typically relies on his brute strength and explosiveness, complete with recurring Octagon shenanigans.

However, Pereira is currently mired in a brutal three-fight skid dating back to October 2024, punctuated by a first-round knockout from Kyle Daukaus just 43 seconds into their August bout. After a stretch of uninspired performances, can the middleweight mainstay stop his hype train from derailing?

Reese vs. Pereira Pick, Best Bet

Reese could certainly use a statement win, and he’s well-positioned to play hometown hero on Saturday night. Count on “Savage” to control distance behind his staggering size advantage and rack up control time with enthusiastic grappling. Expect Reese to treat Pereira as a springboard to accelerate his rise up the middleweight ladder.

Best Bet: Zach Reese Moneyline (+130)
