Analysis
A few things stand out according to the win totals. Let’s start with the implied playoff teams.
In the NFC, the Buccaneers (8.5) and Eagles (10.5) are the two teams projected to win their respective divisions outright. The NFC North is a two-way tie between the Lions and Packers at 10.5, while the NFC West is a three-way tie between the Rams, 49ers, and Seahawks at 10.5. That’s six teams in one conference, with a line at 10.5; the Buccaneers are the sole projected playoff team below that line. NFC South, you never change.
The AFC has five teams at 10.5: the Bills, Patriots, Chargers, Chiefs, and Ravens. Three of those four are projected leaders in their respective divisions; the Texans and Jaguars are tied for the top of the AFC South at 9.5. That’s your implied playoff field right there.
The Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins are the lowest projected teams on the board, tied at 4.5. The Raiders, due to pick first overall in April’s draft, are just behind them at 5.5.
